Abnormal wear back tyres
Hello,
Just changed to Winter tyres and my back OEM Bridgestone potenza RFT had a huge abnormal wear on the inside of the back tyres. The tyres have like 25K miles on them. Size 255/30/19. Is this a known issue? I will be putting some new GY F1 Asymmetric next sommer. Is there something i need BmW to check? Thanks

Well you could see clearly that the far inside 2 cm of the tyres had a steep wear . bit difficult to describe.

That is normal wear - especially with that many miles. The back wheels have more negative camber than most cars and this is what causes the inside of the tire to wear first. Sure, it's a bit of a compromise, but it's one of those things that makes your BMW handle as well as it does.

I'm surprised you got 25k out of them, I have severe steep wear on my rears at only 4k miles on the tires. Looks like I'll only get about 10k out of the tires.

You may want to consider an alignment right when you have the new tires installed. It's relatively cheap when you consider you'll be dropping almost a grand just for the tires.
