e55 is fast in a straight line but not much fun, IMO. It's a heavy car with a big engine. The 335 won't be as fast, but it's much more agile. But then again the e55 is a "higher level" car with a nicer interior.

Wow. If I could have one of each I'd be in heaven.

Personally, I'm in real estate and have two kids so I'd have to say the E55.

What are the options on the 335? If they got sport/premium etc. the it definetely a 335 for me!!! Just because 2-3 years from now if you want to sell it, you will get alot more out of the 335 that you would with the E55(since it is 2004 and older body)

Anyway good luck with your decision, regardless of which you choose, they both still a great car!!

Also, the E55 is already 5 years old. what is the warranty (and track record) on the Benz? if it's not CPO, you can open yourself up to the chance of costly repairs if something goes wrong. the 335 still has a few years left on the warranty and is much newer.

either way, they are both very nice cars.

Yeah, expect to pay a nice extra penny for maintainence and repairs on AMG cars just like the ///M cars. If you won't be generally transporting more than 1 person in your car, I would go with the 335i. It's more nimble (fun) and a better overall driver, gets better gas mileage, lower repair costs, and has LOTS of tuning potential (less than a grand will make your 335i quicker off the line than an E55. However, if you will be transporting people frequently, and/or just HAVE to have that awesome V8 sound and sweet upgraded interior, go for the E55

I'd take the 335. The way I see it:

Pros - 335
Great tuning potential
Looks fresher
Manual transmission
Sportier

Cons - 335
Will depreciate further

Pros - E55
Useful everyday car
Very comfortable
Depreciation mostly priced in now
Very good tuning potential
Lewis Hamilton also drives a Mercedes

Cons - E55
Automatic only
Awful gas mileage
Will it look old after E-class refresh?

the 335i has sport/premium and Nav
is Spkgraph with red int
the only thing is that I haven't see it in person, I was told they were bringing it from Orlando and it should be here in 3-4 days

e55 is supercharge, grey with black int and all the options nav, air suspension etc...

but I think I'm going to get the 335i because it has warranty and better resell value in the future. but damn the sound of that AMG engine is pure sex... and the 500+ pound of torque is incredible.

but the Spkgraph with a drop and a set of v710 on flat black is going to look .

BTW: I though BMW cup holders were crappy but damn MB cup holders sucks they are even worst. German engineers have no idea how to make a useful cup holder jajaja

These were the exact same 2 finalists when I chose. I agree with most of what is written above, except the E55 has plenty of tuning potential. Also I personally believe it is a timeless body style, but they all age eventually.

If they were the same money, with likely no warranty on the E55, I'd go 335. If it was a 2005 with 1 full year of warranty I'd probably go E55. Also, FWIW the mileage I'm getting in my 335 is 2x better than a friend got in his E55.

The E55 is going to look dated. Just look at a '04 next to an 07 and the difference is vast.

The E55 has HUGE tuning potential FYI. I've seen a few in 11's no prob.

I debated something similar, but it wasn't between an AMG and the 335.

I was considering a CLK55. Nice car, fast for sure and it handled well.

The 335 is just more "comfortable" to me though and the interior I like that much better. The AMG engine sure roared though and man, that car accelerated on a dime.

I really like the E55 its not a great handler but the engine sound is sweet and like the others have said the upgraded interior is really nice.

I considered on at one time especially since they are pretty cheap now.

The problem with them just like the M the maintenance is very expensive, and you said it has the air suspension, which is a MAJOR expensive if it goes.

Since the 335 has such great tuning potential and its so new I would go for that, but the E55 is hard to pass up.

I will probably pick the E55. But then if something happens to the MB, I will regret not getting the 335i.
