Do you also drive almost exclusively in Sport Plus?
I have a 2019 X4 M40i Stage 1 MHD with 28K and I have had it about 3 months. I almost always drive in Sport Plus mode, I almost always use Sport shift as well. Should I be concerned with any extra maintenance by shortening my maintenance cycle or adding anything to standard BMW recommendations?
I appreciate any help or insight. Thank you in advance. |

No. I find it too aggressive for daily driving. I stick with comfort when in the car with friends. On work journeys I go with eco pro.

Yes, have the car programmed to start in Sport Individual with my preferred settings. Bonus is that disables the auto on/auto off.

When you drive to work and back home do you feel like being sporty or comfortable? Work (when I did it) would stress me out. I preferred to turn up the music and relax. Same with the shit ride home with traffic. Sport was for winding country roads on the weekend. YMMV.

Sport plus is when I'm feeling very spirited. Have xHP stage 2 and the shifts are quite fast.
Typically drive around town in sport, or longer open road journeys. Anything bumpy or just chill and I really enjoy how smooth comfort is.

Agreed, longer trips or rougher roads, comfort. Sport Individual, as opposed to Sport Plus, lets you set suspension, transmission and throttle response to your preference so you can tweak it to what you want.

And to answer the rest of the OP's question, driving in Sport Plus should not make any difference in maintenance though maybe the car calls for an oil change a bit earlier. Now if you really dogging the car that's a different story.

98% of the time in comfort. The other 2% is when some A hole tries to beat me at a light that goes from two lanes to one, or passing an A hole that pulls out in front of me. Sport+ equals A hole killer for me!

If that is your regular driving, it is worst case for wear. Are you manually shifting to keep revs down? |

If you are only driving in sport + and the revs are going higher and the car being used more aggressively when cold that will be maximum potential damage. An engine needs to be warmed before it’s spanked ideally. |

One other thing I've noticed is that, with the adaptive suspension and a tune, if you are going to use the B58 torque you really ought to be in sport mode. Otherwise the torque can really unsetlle the chassis by overpowering the comfort damping settings.

Sport Individual most of the time unless I'm going to be on the highway for 10+ miles and then it's in Eco.

I agree with highway in Eco mode, I do make a 100 roundtrip to Boston once a week and I am always in Eco with cruise control. I haven't used sport individual much, what settings do you like?

I like sport mode when the mood strikes. I also have MHD and the car is just too fast not to enjoy it. I drive in comfort mode most of the time. When I'm on a really boring commute or a long highway run I'll throw it into the Eco. I don't really care about wear and tear beyond making sure I am diligent about maintenance.

Sport Individual with Steering and Suspension set to Comfort. Shift lever to the left in Manual mode except when I'm cruising on the highway. I don't like the throttle lag in Comfort.

Just a reminder for those folks in sport mode most of the time - the transmission will never shift to 8th gear in sport. So once you're cruising on the freeway/motorway/autobahn, you're wasting gasoline. At least that's the way it works with my 2019 M40.
