X5 m50i Shadowline vs. Cerium

Hi all,

I have just purchased an X5 m50 that is in production - it has all options checked except Shadowline extended trim for whatever reason. It was almost a deal breaker but due to the scarcity of vehicles, I pulled the trigger.
The car is black exterior, so the contrast of cerium grey actually looks decent.

My question is, would a black wrap be easier/cost effective or swapping each of the cerium grey parts with black ones?
Thanks!!!

Wrap is the easiest and fastest, and I have literally done it on over 20 cars with ZERO issues.

Plus if it ages or gets damaged, just replace it.

The front grill is also an easy swap, and then there are the exhaust ports - also replacement parts readily available, and IND badges - so everything is consistent.

I think I'd actually be into the cerium trim on a lot of colors if they had just left the mirrors body-colored.

Great thanks! I am thinking wrap is easier and it's a lease, any idea of the cost for the grille and the mirror caps?

Lots of places to buy - try Ben at RGsport, IND design, etc...and look in the cosmetic mods subforum.

100% agree here. Really like the cerium except for the dumb mirror covers.

If I change the cerium grille, are the active shutters behind grey or black?

If you're going to swap the grill, look into an actual X5M OEM grill so there are no active shutters to bother with. Plus (I think) it looks better, and is easier to wash.

You can't do that. The active shutters are separate from the grill. The active shutters are black with a raise middle line that is cerium. The X5M grill is 5 slats and the G05 is 7 slats. You need the 7 slats to align with the active shutters so the X5M grill does not look right if used.

Looking to swap out my grill to a double slat black (to replace cerium grey grill). Is there any way to disable the active shutter and just leave it open? If so, any guidance on how?

Yeah, some people have done so by pulling the fuse when they are in the open position. I don't know if there is a way to code for them to remain open. However note that the 1 and 8th positions are fixed, only 2-7 move. You can get a black grill with 7 double slats, so its not an issue to replace with that version if you desire. I posed the question when I first got my M50i about grill replacement with a double slat and you can see what it looks like on another members car here (note you can see the active shutters open) https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1798878

My car is Black Sapphire Metallic and I went decided to stick with the Cerium grey accents to stand out from others.

There are plenty of black xDrive40i's around my city with black wheels/trim.

I love the way Cerium grey looks on a black X5 so I'd keep it the way it is.
