Angry Dealer screwed me over!!!

I placed an order for my 2006 330i on March 9th. The car arrived at the dealership in mid-April. However, the lease on my previous 2003 525i isn't up until June 13th. The dealer said that they have a pull ahead program in which we can get out of the previous lease and take delivery of the new car. Today I just found out that they sold the car I ordered in March without telling me! Also, I paid a $500 deposit on the car to order it and hold it. So, in order to have a car to drive when the lease is up, I needed to order a new car! I was pissed at the salesman for not telling us he was going to see my car. Just thought I'd share my experience as it made me veryyyy furious.

At what point could you step up to a new car? How many months max can be left on your lease at time of step up? How does this work?

That almost happened to me

My dealer tried this on me too....If someone offers MSRP for the car, the dealer is going to go after it. If they can make 4 grand off one car, they would need to sell 8 cars at 500 over invoice to make up for it.

They'd risk a small customer to gain a large one...Most of them'll take money over customer satisfaction any day...especially if it's a bad month...

That pretty much sucks! Is there any way of maybe getting a discount for bad service on another lease or new car?

Sorry to hear. Had they given you a production number or VIN?

Get your revenge by naming the dealership and salesperson on this board. Make them pay a price in reputation. They can't go after you for documentable facts - and in this case the facts would seem to speak for themselves.

I Could not have said it better. BMW's first priority is to make money not customer satisfaction. Like I mentioned on previous post my dealer send me off in a snow storm with summer tires. He was so afraid I was going to wait that he took a chance with my life. Money over safety.

I would go straight to the source .. which is BMW USA Headquarters and file a complaint. Make sure you given NAMES in this complaint and who did what ...etc ... make it so clear as if you are going to court. And have to stress the seriousness to BMW and they will respond to you. Trust me.

yeah, I ended up ordering a new car today. It sucks but there was nothing else to do since they sold the car I was originally supposed to get. I have to talk to the sales manager to see if he can lower the payments, but I just hope it gets here by the time the previous lease is up in June.

As for the pull ahead program. BMW offers this almost all year round. If you plan on purchasing or leasing another BMW and you want to get out of your lease early, you can do so with the Pull Ahead Program. I believe the maximum is 3 months, but I'm sure it could be negotiated to be longer.

As for now, I'll be a waiting game for the newly ordered car. Thanks for all the advice, I'll keep you updated.

That sucks!!!! Man...they better do something to compensate you for this. I mean, what kind of guarantee are they giving you that they will not just sell the next one also?? Well, hopefully it gets here before your lease is up!

Could you please clarify, for the benefit of members here, whether you had had a signed agreement and production number (or VIN) for the car or whether this was more casual? If you had a production number, you would have seen your car in the Owner's Circle with your name and some of the specified options (it doesn't give a complete view). You might want to be sure to check in the OC this time if you didn't before.

If I were you I would use this opportunity to negotiate a deal to extend the lease on the 525 until they can get you a 2007 model year E90. You might end up with a 335, and at a minimum you end up with a car with higher resale.

I hope you at least went through a different sales person. Else he just got to screw you and still get your money in the end. Make sure he knows he is dead to you. Oh and what was his name so everyone else buying cars in your area can avoid him?

i have to agree. it's all about business to them and how much money they can make. you shouldn't take it personally but you must be a less valuable customer to them. you can't have both a good price and royal treatment. that's just the way it is.

Why didn't you take delivery of the car before it was sold? Why, if you had ordered the car and had arranged a pull ahead lease change, did this not happen when the car came in mid-April?

A lot of folks seem to assume the worst about ogre dealers on this list.

Yes, I had a signed contract with my BMW Center. I had recieved a production # and a VIN # and was tracking the car from Germany the second I recieved the production #. It had the entire list of options with my name on the website.

What you have said, is very true .. but only in USA. In Canada, BMW banned this system, and we're not able to check the progress or location of our car at all. This is straight facts from BMW Canada. So .. back luck for us and have to trust the dealership in this case.
