Barbados is lovely for that type of holiday, most things are based round hotels. Alot of hotels are All Inclusive though you can go Self Catering but food will be rather expensive.
Kuoni are normally pretty decent to book through, in Nottingham theres a great travel agents - Trailfinders in town link - http://www.trailfinders.com/ They are great

Go to Paradise Island in Bahamas to stay at Atlantis, been there twice and it's fantastic, bit pricey but you must check it out. One of the beach bars, you can rent out a small apartment on the beach with widescreen TV's, own stereo etc, with one side exiting to the white sand, and the other to the 'bed' style beach bar... fantastic place. http://www.atlantis.com/

Barbados is a lovely place, the boat house is a top place to go on a friday night
I've booked through Kuoni a few times, when travelling to Asia, do not accept their first half dozen prices though! J. |

Can I also recommend a Cayo Coco, Cuba, you can also spend a few days in Havana for your cultural fix and Cayo for your beach fix, was completely unspoilt when I went, not sure how commercialised it is now though, so do a bit of research!! Have you also considered the other side of the world, Goa.

I've not been to Barbados myself - closest I've been is St. Lucia.
My favourite holiday ever has been Mauritius - if you're looking for a totally relaxing week I can thoroughly recommend that - we stayed at the Dina Robin which was amazing. I have an excellent travel agent if you want someone to sniff you out a good deal anywhere in the world. She'll deal with flights/transfers/accommodation, everything. Drop me a PM if you want her number, she'll find you something to suit and I guarantee it'll be excellent.

Sheps - that place looks lovely If you like to relax on holiday I think Sheps has found a perfect place.
Another one you may like squeeze, Aruba a small Dutch island not far from Venezuela, Palm Beach is where you want to be for the lazy days lots of nice hotels situated there and a visit to Oranjestead capital (sp) is a must

The Dina Robin does an excellent Tequila sour and they're bought to your bed - perfect.

Just to throw another place into the mix, Marrakesh in Morocco blistering hot all year round me and my girlfriend went last summer had an amazing time but it was to hot 118 deg f one day! Never went below 35 Deg C even at night!
It would be really nice in Jan the weather would be great and its only 3.5 hour flight from the UK would be great for a week. BUT it is completely different to most places in the world and can be a shock to some people not in a bad way just different, Marrakesh has to parts though the old city and the new part which is alot more westernised with Mcdonalds and posh shops, big hotels etc... An amazing part of the world! |

In Jan Marrakesh will be about 26C not 28+ and I wouldn't recommend it for a relaxing beach hol.
