My 335i is bogging on 3rd gear. Any ideas?
Hi guy's
This has been going on for a while now. The dealer doesn't understand what the problem is and thinks it is normal but, when i shift from 2nd to 3rd at 6900 rpm the car boggs for a second and built's up boost again and way you go. But the bogging is Pi$$ing me off. There is a couple second delay when the car goes again. This is this when the DSC and DTC is OFF.. 1st gear full throttle at almost 7K RPM clutch shift to 2nd quickly 2nd gear full throttle to 7K clutch shift to 3rd apparently slowly 3rd gear full throttle it appeared to bog down for a second or two before the power builds up again. When i first experienced this I thought it was a software bug or a fuel pump problem but now thinking if the clutch is slipping? The car has 10000 Km's on it. Any ideas what could be causing this. thanks |

Also happened couple times with the DSC and the DTC ON. I thought nannies Basically designed to help 1st and 2nd gear traction (especially for higher powered 6MT cars). Also helps with clutch/drivetrain wear caused by shock loads. But does this also happen with 3rd gear. I thought the nannies kicked in between 1st and 2nd shifts?

No, the DTC nannies kick in like this:
<30mph: braking + engine/throttle intervention >30mph: only engine/throttle intervention

When you change gear, do you take your foot off the gas pedal all the way? If you do, when changing gear at high revs the turbos are being asked to go from no boost [between gears, no gas] to full boost at full throttle and high air volume [when you mash the pedal again], so perhaps they take longer than when they don't have to push such high air volumes. There are 2 ways you could reduce this - firstly, how about trying taking your foot off the gas only enough to stop over-revving, maintaining the revs at 6k so that the turbos are partly spooled up even between gears. Hard to do though. Secondly you could try to change gear really fast so that there is less time for the turbos to drop off revs and boost
