Third Row Sun Roof

I've had the SUV now for 6 months and I've only just ventured into the third row seats. I've tried to open the cover to the sunroof above however it appears to be jammed - you can hear the motor go but won't open? Am I doing something wrong or is this a visit to the dealership?

Had the same problem. Hold the sunroof button (front row) down for 30/60 sec. It resets all the sunroof settings. This should fix your issue.

and if that doesn't, just bring it in and have them swap the likely burned out motor. Enjoy your x5 loaner.

Already booked in for a health check and a couple of other niggles for next week.
Been offered a loaner for the day but not sure it’s an X5 but my last loaner was an 850i which was nice!

I had the entire panoramic sunroof replaced after I bought my car because it was making noise but this week (1 year after having it replaced) my sunshade is also barely moving. The sunshade won't open/close properly and lots of crackling noises. The button to lift the glass open is not working either. Scheduled an appt in October…my first BMW and I'm real worried about what's going to happen to this sunroof after my warranty ends 😒

How do you hold the sunroof button down? Mine is only a push or pull towards you button

if you push it up, it should pop open the roof. pushing up and holding is, I think, the reset direction. If you look in the manual in the roof section, there's a part that details how to run that reset process, including what direction to push that button

It went into BMW today to rectify as I have a couple other issues they need to look at. As you say I hope it is just a simple case of a reset.

I took my 2020 X7 to the dealership in October and they "fixed" the shade not opening properly. It's November and once again the main shade is opening super slow and then a fast snap all the way back. Back to the dealership in 3 weeks (their first opening). On top of that, driver side Harmon Kardon speaker not working, 3rd row seat heater not working, and tailgate stops opening half way occasionally. This is my first BMW and I am not impressed with the issues coming up.
