648M Wheel Fit

Like many, I need to purchase a set of winter tires/wheels. Locally there's a set of 648M wheels for sale but I can't find information on whether they fit the X3 M40i. Is there a wheel fit source that will tell me if the 648M will fit an otherwise stock 2021 X3 M40i?

Is the set staggered or square 20x8.5" all around? The 8.5" fronts should fit fine all around, but not sure about the 20x10" rear for staggered fitment. My guess is that it should be OK with a 275/40r20 tire.

I run 19x8.5" 7-series wheels on my wife's car with 255/50r19 all around for winter. Offset is +25 which is same as your 8.5" wide 648M wheels. This setup works just fine. You would have to run either 245/45r20" (or 255) tires all around.

Thanks Chutak. They are staggered.

Thanks! They were dealer take-offs from a 740i that I found for sale on CL, pretty much new condition. The pics may not capture it, but in person these wheels have a bit more concave than stock X3 wheels. Paired with a lower offset and a slightly wider tire, it makes the X3 look a little more rugged while still retaining a tame OEM appearance.

They look like style 630 - square setup - 8.5" et25mm

and you've answered the question I posed in my thread below !

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1847346

If I buy an X3m40, I'd seriously consider the staggered version of 630 (8.5" F as above + 9.5" et39mm R) for summer set....

Plan on using a similar setup for my wife's X3.
Since the recommended tires are 245/50, have you experimented any rubbing by having slightly bigger tires ?

I know that the ratio is not that much higher (0.36%), but want to be sure before pulling the trigger...

Thanks in advance !

No rubbing at all, works just fine. I would've gone with 245's, but I wanted a specific Nokian tire which only came in 255/50r19.

According to a site I found, they aren't compatible. Not sure why other than the offsets are a little different.

That's strange. The X3 M runs a 20x10 +39 offset, and doesn't have flared fenders or anything. That's only 2mm difference.

I agree. I'll check with the dealership Monday. Whether they have an answer, or not... we'll see.

Did you ever get an answer out of the dealership? I have been thinking of dropping to a 20" wheel to save weight / improve ride quality. The 648M are quite a few lbs less than the factory G01 21"...

I decided to pick up a set of the BMW winter sets with 695s and Pirellis. I couldn't be happier.
