Front windows tinting in NJ/NY

Folks I was told that NJ law is NO front windows tint whatsoever, I remember it used to be 35% but now it is no tinting allows. I haven't had my car tinted for years and I do plan on tinting my new M3 but don't want to be stopped by a cop every other day (or giving them any reason at all)... any thought and experience for those who live in the tri-state area, especially in NJ?
Thanks.

I can't speak for NJ, but in NY no tint allowed on driver/passenger/windshield. It's not just the ticket that's the issue they also check for tint during inspection so need to find a shop that will overlook it which takes some work.

Depends on where you are in NJ as to whether or not your local PD will enforce this.. here in south Jersey most run no front plate and/or have all windows tinted with no issues. However, I hear in north Jersey it's a lot stricter and the risk of getting a ticket is higher.

I've run tint on all my cars for the past 10 years here in northern NJ with no issue. Been pulled over twice, one for speeding (let go with warning), another for running a stop sign (was an accident) and so has my wife (expired inspection) and tint was never mentioned. Granted the darkest I've run is 35% and not all-out limo tint. Also to note is that there is no tint rules for car inspection either, so your safe there also.

Go for it if they give you a ticket just pay it! I got one ticket and all my car's get tinted. I just got my 2022 done with 15% entire car.

I did 50 and 70 up front all around in NYC and the only attention I've gotten from Police was 'nice car'. I don't think you'll have any issues really unless you give someone a real excuse
