So on my 228i GC there is that little hole on the turn arm for the gas lid and I assume that's where you put the tip of the cap to hold it. And on my X3 I put it there and it locks in perfectly and fits as it should. But for my 228i when I put it in it doesn't stay it falls out and I try to put pressure and push it in but it stays but not as secure as my X3 and I don't want to force it too much and break the lid. So has anyone noticed this I'll attach a photo soon.

Thanks for the reminder. This has disturbed me whenever I fuel up but then I drive away and I forget to fix the issue. Just ran a 9mm bit down the hole and the cap now fits.
Cheers

I was thinking of just shaving off some plastic from the tip of the lid bc the whole is big enough just those lines they made on the edge of the cap don't allow it to fit. But can you take a picture of what u did.

Same here, definitely an oversight on these models. I may have to try opening up with a drill bit.

I just took a pair of scissors and shaved off some plastic from the tip of the fuel cap and from the hole where you put it. It fits fine, but be careful I cut myself….🤦*♂️

Probably better to skim a bit of the plastic off the cap as has been mentioned above as the cap is easier to replace if it goes wrong. Below is a photo of the cap sitting in its hole after drilling with a 9mm bit.
cheers

Yeah I didn't have a 9mm bit bc I think the hood is too small but I find one I'll do that. But for the time being I just shaved off the plastic and it fits like a glove.
