Looks like a hairpin just before the grandstand, brake fade/failure?

Nope..T1 is a slight jog left...before going up the hill to T2...you are going pretty fast..since the hairpin is at T11...you accelerate hard from then until after T1..

Ok, got it. I was looking at the outer track/road. Didn't see the actual track in the centre of the map.

I followed that NASA link. that was on sunday and that i saw that car bombing up the hill on sat in my group ..wow....

i can't find any tech on why it happened, most are suspecting mechanical failure. anyone have concrete info?

Also, I'm disgusted by the 'VTEC y0' comments. spectators narrowly missed death, the driver is lucky to be alive and people are making fun of Hondas? If the was an E9X 335 with fashionable 'DTM' mods would there be more sympathy? probably.

Way to be callous d-bag BMW owners guys

Save your holier-than-thou attitude. No one was hurt and it was just an incident. I have had lots of bent metal.

It is called a sense of humor.

Hello again,

Just wanted to give eveyone another update on Angelo's condition. He did not end up having the surgery I mentioned in the last post, the doctors took another MRI of his spine and decided that it would be best to put him in a brace and let the vertebrae begin to heal, they will monitor the healing progress and if they dont like what they see they may still need to operate. Apart from the drowsiness brought about by pain killers he is doing ok and was able to talk with the people who visited him yesterday. I will continue to post updates as I get them.

EDIT: remind me to make a turbo kick in joke next time you stuff a car?

Then I hope he feels better.

It is an incident, don't make it into a major drama.

got some more info from a NASA update email about the crash above. unfortunately we were wrong about the severity of the crash, and the driver sustained serious injury.

Driver was a Russell school instructor and the car was a spoon car factory car, so it seems like the car tech and driver skill were in place for a safe run...

I don't have details on the root cause

Drive safe guys

More information: Angelo Zucchi was injured in a racing accident about two weeks ago and suffered a back injury. The unconfirmed recovery time for Angelo is one year.

"Most of you are aware that Angelo has been the bread winner in the family of late and that his mother,
known as "Mama Z" to many of us, has had a rough go of it for a few years now. So, having Angelo injured in an accident has put an enorous strain on finances of this wonder family.

Me too. Nov8-9 was not a good weekend. Multiple cars had offs that ended in the concrete. Great reminder that 'things happen' even at DEs
