MY 22 Reviews

The new MY 22 reviews are starting to post. Guess that means at least some dealers are receiving them:

I thought wireless charging was discontinued for 22? Also, why did they remove the ability to fold the back seats down from the rear, looks like the handles are gone and replaced with an X…

This came up in another thread. Consensus was either a part shortage or BMW not wanting people to crush their kids that they forgot about in the back seats...

LOL, crushing the kids! Yes, seen those posts. One of the silliest reasoning I have seen around.

You don't crush your kids? I do it regularly just to make sure he knows I'm in charge

I mean…who wouldn't want a nice stylish X instead of a plastic but convenient lever to fold down the rear seats…:

At 3:27 the guy mentions functional air vents behind front tires. I don't think so!!!

Also, doesn't it have the fineline interior trim which is not available for MY22?

Mine got changed from fineline to poplar. Picked it up yesterday and I'm very happy with poplar. I'm glad it was changed after seeing it. Dealer also gave me some floor liners for the "inconvenience". Win win.

Maybe this guy does not know what is missing/removed from the G05 but it's alot of stuff:

- Soft close doors (love them)
- Heated/cooled cupholders ( They work great)
- Luggage compartment Pkg ( Terrific option)
- fog lights ( very effective on G05 as they are mounted high)
- cargo area rear seat release levers - nice convenience feature
- wireless charging ( works fine for my phone)
- fineline trim (my favorite trim have in both BMWs)

But taken together it's a ton of stuff that makes a '22 much less of a luxury SUV IMO. MY '20 M50i is a keeper.

Don't forget the extended Merino leather center console tunnel that was removed starting with MY21

Absolutely right. I have the extended Ivory/Night blue Merino as you do. And if I remember correctly, they also removed the crystal radio knob with the glass shifter as well.

And also have seen some talk that the hands free tailgate feature is gone for '22 as well. Don't know if that's confirmed.

Aside from all of the deletions, has anything been added to the MY22 at all?

Like if you have an earlier model, is there any reason to trade in for a new one at this point?

I'm not tracking any additions for MY22.

As a MY20 owner, I don't see the need to trade my low mileage, air + IAS, truly "extended" Merino with 4M5 leather dashboard in for a new MY22 UNLESS I was upgrading to a M50i.

Otherwise, holding on to it until LCI and deciding then - either X5/X7 M50i or X5M Comp.

Shopping list:
- Air + IAS or DHP
- DHP with Air / X7
- Full merino
- 490 Individual Ruby Red metallic

This is how I'm feeling too. It just feels odd that these cars are literally going backwards before our eyes without a single redeeming feature being added, and they still sell!
