Things are in Motion - DSP or no DSP?
Hi Guys.
My goals here are to upgrade the under-seat subs and upgrade my factory amp I've been scouring the forums to confirm and reconfirm that what I'm doing is correct and it seems the need for a DSPs is fairly undocumented. Some DIY posts are including a DSP, others are not. My car has: - S663A Radio BMW Professional - S676A HiFi speaker system From what I understand, the Hifi speaker system and professional Head Unit do not require a DSP, though the base radio does. Also, its signal is most flat when the treble is set to -6 on the Head Unit and Bass to zero. Can someone confirm to me if I need a DSP or not? Thank you! |

No you don't have to have it .
The standard quality upgrade used to be a Xd 600/6 and some of the better speaker's out there and it will be awesome . I have the xd and morel/jehnerts it's the best sound system I have ever had in a car. You do not have to adjust the treble or bass much of zero. The eq off the head unit is pretty good without tweaking it with the Hi Fi eq. But if I where doing it now I would consider one of the amp/Dsp combo's for the extra control of the eq and sound stage. When you install new component speakers in the front or rear doors the recommended crossover setting for the component set physical crossover is -3db. |
