Calling all UK MMI owners!
Hi
Just had to return an old/faulty/buggy Andream unit (V1) to Aliexpress (they said it was a new one - clearly not - it was a customer return). Mine also had custom Firmware on it which proved fatal on the MCU update. Now in the market to replace it (as I loved AA when it worked). So anyone actually happy with a supplier in particular? Did they get a modern box that seemed to have all the benefits of modern firmware? It seems a minefield out there! Thanks in advance for any help provided! Alright Tony,
How did you know your box was custom software? I bought a box from the suggested source of here and it doesnt seem to match any revisions in the massive mmi thread. Im a little confused. |

Hiya, I could tell because of the CUST version ending in.mod:
SDK Version 25.0.5.6.0.0.0 CUST Version: v2.0.0.B0.mod MCU Version: 19.8.22.15 HW Version: BMW That directly tallies with the custom (modified) version on the first page for an Andream NBT v1A version So from that I could tell that they shipped me an old version with modified firmware. They also lied repeatedly and said it was a v2, no newer firmware was available. Blah blah. Got it returned under PayPal dispute as a faulty unit, and PayPal paying the return shipping costs. You also need to return to Honk Kong, not EU. So bunch of liars. That's the AICOAI Official store, so they need to be shamed/avoided.. Last edited by Tony_B; 08-06-2021 at 02:14 AM.. |

Hey Tony,
I see what you are talking about now. What I dont understand is how they thought you would ever believe what they were saying to you when the software version is clearly a mod? Crazy! My software version is B2_v1.5.2. From what I understand that version came in after the mod version your unit was running? |

Yes - that is a new software version (not the newest). Certainly well past my .mod version. And you have the newest hardware revision - mines was an old customer return (was scratched from a previous install and was a v1 revision of the hardware). Hence their lies were REALLY obvious!
Your info also tells me that yours is an Andream NBT vB2 box variant 04. Your current firmware version sits between the previous version and the new latest version. Hope this helps Tony Last edited by Tony_B; 08-06-2021 at 07:19 AM.. |

Hi
How well does this actually work? Will it connect via Bluetooth or cable only? My wife has it in her golf and it's quite useful, wondering if I should get the mmi instead of renewing the RTTI for another 12months at the same cost |

It works well
wireless Apple carplay and wireless/wired Android Auto (depends on Android phone if it supports wireless AA or not). Beats the BMW Nav I'd say (and is always up to date) needs a fairly basic install beind/below head unit or under steering column. I'd say worth it |

also keen to understand what the best current model / supplier is - so much noise in the huge global thread!
I don't suppose any of them have managed to integrate the HUD directions or waze/google speed limit displays into android auto yet, have they?

I'm almost certainly going to go down the MMI route, to keep the warranty happy at the moment, as i would just love Apple Car Play, and its cheaper than a couple of map updates to BMW
Can you either post her or let me know the costs for your one? More than happy to fit myself. |

I have an MMI box that will be for sale come the end of September (changing for a 10.25" Android head unit).
It will be coming out of a 2014 F31 with 6.5" screen no Nav. Been using it happily for the last 2 years. See this link for more details https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/carp...ies-2013-2016/ Happily sell this on for a small fee to a BMW forum member.

Navigation in MMI (waze/maps etc) will not show on the extended cluster (arrows speed etc). Navigation in i-drive will not impact in anyway the navigation provided by the MMI box for carplay or AA. But observations - speed limits appear in AA & carplay MMI apps on the maps themselves You could always set nav guidance in Idrive so you get cluster/HUD instructions then switch to MMI to get full screen maps/waze - then choose which audio source you want for voice guidance - Aux for MMI or other for native idrive guidance. Hope this makes sense Last edited by Tony_B; 08-19-2021 at 02:22 AM.. |

Waiting for my second(!) MMI box to turn up from codeyourbeemer. First got lost in the post.
Supposed to be a ew-bmcp-nbt04x (ver 2b) with uptodate firmware (support for youtube). Will update when it arrives PS faultless? Well that's a subjective thing, I think all aftermarket media boxes leave a little to be desired, not quite 80/20 more 95/5 there if you get my drift... |

As promised - new box v2b - with very new firmware.
Have added a USB socket to house the cable from the MMI box and added a rear camera You can tell it's a new box - not a screw type antenna - it's the blue plug one. And no '360 in' block Last edited by Tony_B; 08-23-2021 at 05:52 AM.. |

Once set it does AA auto wirelessly - the old buggy box needed a cable...
phone uses car bluetooth, Siri and OK google, & long press of speech buttons work. Took the car to Porstmouth and back yesterday (hence bugs on the windshield!) to see family - worked flawlessly Only issues are when girlfriend connected her Iphone there was no 'exit' BMW icon in carplay, so don't know how to exit back to MMI menu from carplay. Android Auto has an exit button. And the car icon for the sensors is generic - would be good to have 'your' car Last edited by Tony_B; 08-23-2021 at 07:22 AM.. |

Random Q! Can you change the car shown in the reversing camera? I am not looking forward to running the cable for that!
I think when i am ready to order, I know where I am going! |
