Works through both keyfob (lock button thrice) and My BMW app. I was super excited to see this feature available for purchase. My dealer made a huge mistake by not adding this option when speccing the car out and I really missed this feature for the last 2 years. I checked the connected drive store this morning and found the option available. Simply go to https://mybmw.bmwusa.com/ and click on Shop BMW Connected Drive. You should be able to see the Remote Engine Start option for ~ $330 plus taxes.

I then had to go to installed apps in iDrive 7 and click the options button below the iDrive controller while hovering over the installed apps tab. The services were refreshed and this also triggered the pending software update (2021 March update). After the update finished, I went into the climate control settings and enabled remote start. The ventilation button in the MyBMW iOS app now has a small thermometer next to it and asks you for confirmation to start the engine. I tested both the remote and the app, they work flawlessly. I just wish I got it earlier lol.

Pretty awesome. Definitely planning on biting the bullet on this. I hate that my car was lacking this option at the dealership.

According to the screenshot it seems like drive recorder is an option which I would love to download and I would be happy to pay for, but I don't seem to have that as an option when i look. Any suggestions?

You need the parking assistance professional package, as it has the required cameras.

This is fantastic thanks. I err'd and thought remote start was standard when I ordered our early build car. Would love to add remote start so I'll check this out.

Honestly one of the most used options on my car and kinda nuts to see it's something that's purchasable. I linked this thread over in the Coding section as some guys there have been trying to enable this their own way.

I tried to buy it and I got as far as clicking checkout and it goes to another page and the BMW circle thing just sits and spins forever. I guess I'll try tomorrow.

Yes. The check out on the Connected Drive store was wonky yesterday. I switched to my laptop to complete the purchase.

I have a question, if you do not have the app, can you still start the car by pressing Lock button on the key FOB 3 times?

Reason I ask, is that I could do it from the day one (start with FOB), than the FREE BMW Connected app installed on the phone allowed to start / climatize the car from anywhere in the World.
I recall BMW genius video from 2019 that stated that in North America remote start with the FOB is a standard feature for G20.

You can log into the My BMW site by clicking the link below, or visiting www.mybmw.com, using your existing ConnectedDrive username and password. Select “My Garage” to view your vehicle(s) and associated ConnectedDrive information. If you’re uncertain whether you have an existing ConnectedDrive account, you can use the “forgot password” link, or register your vehicle to create a new account.

Go into my garage, click on your car, scroll to bottom where it says shop connected drive store.

Try debit. None of my credit cards worked.

Pressing lock thrice works. I tried it on mine before and it was definitely not standard.

My most used option on my M340i. As I am walking to my car, I will almost always grab my key and press the lock button 3x... if for no other reason than I like hearing the car rev at startup.

I think it is worth it. I have a 2021 M340i. Paid this morning just did the download and it was fast. Click your lock button 3 times as you walk up and it even starts.
