Hi everyone, I don't know if there really is an official way to ask the moderators for a new section but I guess they should see this post.
I am sure there are many owners who would like to discuss there track experience like me with there G20/21/22 vehicles. This section is very useful to share important information with these kind of activities. Please chime in if this something you would also like to have thank you

You know, I bought my M440 without any intention of ever tracking it, just sporty drives through the twisties, but...
...the more I drive it, the more it begs to be pushed, and the more the temptation grows in my mind to hit Laguna Seca for an open session.

I tracked my M340i this Spring and posted several times....first time on track with an automatic transmission but it worked well, had enough power but could use better brake pads....

I'd love a drag section.
RuPaul's All-Stars is almost over and we haven't even talked about the final three.

I ran Porterfield R4-S and to my surprise it did the job very well for a street/track day pad.

Its frustrating since proper pads and camber plates are probably the only things holding me from being neck to neck with M2's and maybe even besting my personnal times. This new chassis is just that good !

I guess no moderator seen this thread or have an interest on having another section ?
The F series section seems pretty active so I don't see why this would not apply to G series. How can we get this moving ?

I did a few laps at the Nürburgring last weekend in my 330i…. It did quite well, although I can't wait to get rid of the stock Bridgestone RFT.
The M-Performance brakes would be great too. I didn't get a lot of fade or mushiness but something just seemed off late in the laps. Last edited by helmet91; 09-24-2021 at 03:43 AM.. |

There is a world of difference between rft and good tires like ps4s ! Concerning brakes I am not surprised there seems to be a lot of open space and long straighta or benders to help cool everything. A good set of pads with a compound leaning towards track duty + good brake fluid can do wonders.

Unfortunately, there don't seem to be a lot of brake pad options for the 330i with basic brakes. I don't see anything from Hawk and EBC only appears to have pads for the front (https://ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/BMW/3%20Series%20(G20)/)?
I've thought about grabbing a gently used set of M-Sport brakes.... but I'm not sure if they're worth the hassle. I might as well just go all out with the M-Performance. I'll definitely be upgrading to the PS4S when the Turanzas are worn out. |

If I recall correctly M Sport brakes use the same pads as the GR Supra and there are a ton of different pads available for these. Plus M Sport brakes should be pretty cheap from a wrecker or used since there are so many. I did not see anyone retrofit M3 brakes yet but these would be the ultimate upgrade (you can use 18inch wheels) Only problem is M3/4 guys go trough rear pads like crazy fast, Wich may be cause by too much imbalance in caliper size.

What are you guys doing in terms of suspension?
I kind of don't wanna mess the stiffness since the car is still mostly my daily driver, but having a little more camber and less body roll would be nice. I also have the EDC which I don't want to delete Some options I was thinking of are: M3 control arms Dinan springs Dinan mono ball kit Bilstein electronic coilovers Stiffer sway bars (if that exists) |

I went to Sonoma raceway. First time ever at this track and first time tracking this car. The track was amazing. Took me a while to learn it and I still think there's quite a bit more room for improvement. The car held up really well also. I managed a PB of 2:02. I think the car definitely has at least a 1:55 in it. Car is completely stock except for tires. I'm running 245/35/19 front and 265/35/19 falken rt660 in store k 792 wheels. Also had the car aligned when installing these tires at -1 degree front camber and -0.5 rear. Front toe at 0+0.1. Stock pads and fluid. I feel like this track isn't that demanding on the brakes so they held up ok. Stock power was more than adequate for this track. I was keeping up with a 992 gt3 on my last session. Things to note/improve: There's quite a bit of body roll, but it's not detrimental to performance. The car ok these tires has a loooot of grip so much so that the seats don't hold me in and I'm having to keep myself from moving by hanging onto the steering wheel or brace myself on the door |
