Anyone here a regular at their local junkyard?
I know this post doesn't really belong here, but I figure posting here will reach a larger audience than the more specific WTB post I made in Classifieds.
I'm after a hard-to-find part: a manual transmission wiring harness from a car with a build date between 06/2006 and 03/2007. This part is found on E82 1er and all the E9x variants. Part number is 12517555033. If anyone here knows of a car locally that would have this part (and ideally is already planning to go down to the junkyard where the car is located) please let me know as I'd like to work something out. I'm not asking for free labor here and think you should make a bit of money for doing this. I would make the shipping process as easy as possible by sending you a shipping label (likely for UPS). Thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

Tried searching but doesn't look like either of those yards have what I'm after... :-(

If you can figure out if this car has what you need, I'd be glad to go pull it for you. From what I can tell it's an automatic. It's odd that it has a 2019 add date as stuff doesn't tend to stick around for that long in that yard. |

I've gone to the one in west palm beach that Luis mentioned and stuff there flies. There was an e92 with brown interior and a day later the inside looked like a track car. I'm a regular visitor to some yards around here but manual e90s don't like visiting them as often as I do as a matter of fact I think there are no manuals in them at all now.
You could have maybe used the harness from a 2006 330xi I was gonna take the 6 speed from a while ago (casing ended up being cracked) but that car is probably a beer can by now and was a rare sight. Can't you modify your harness?

Yes, I could modify the automatic harness, but the OE is strong within me. I can’t help it haha. Worst case I will modify my existing harness, but I’d rather keep it intact when I pull it out.

Thanks everyone for the responses and the offers of assistance! There were far more replies than I could have imagined.
I *think* I’ve bought one on eBay. The seller doesn’t ordinarily ship outside the US so I’m waiting for them to send me details on shipping which they haven’t yet done. I would rather have bought from a forum member, but I sent a PM on Monday to the person above and still haven’t heard back with a price . I’m sure he’s just busy, but given how rare these seem to be I wasn’t comfortable waiting any longer and risking ending up with nothing. The price I paid on eBay seemed reasonable enough relative to what I’ve seen out there so hopefully that works out. If anyone ever sees a car in a Calgary yard that you need something from don’t hesitate to let me know! I kind of doubt it because it seems like there are way more of these things in the States, but I’m always happy to help!

I frequent the ones down in San Diego, I don't recall every seeing a manual vehicle there, but then again I have never really looked for one either. I am planning to go this weekend and I can search for that harness while I'm there. In case the eBay seller doesn't come thru.

The thing that makes this harness so damn elusive is the fact it was used only from 06/2006 to 03/2007. I can’t find the info needed to delineate model years based on prod dates, but what I do know is that so far the only cars I’ve found with in-range build dates are 2007s. Lol. So yeah… tough to find for sure! Again, that’s very kind of you to offer to check. I would hope that I’d hear back from the other member who asked me to PM him by that time, but if the eBay thing doesn’t work and I still haven’t heard back in a couple days I will let you know. Definitely don’t want you wasting your time looking if I already found one!

Pick n pull most likely. I wouldn’t say I go often at all. Haven’t been in prob ten years but did go recently on account of the manual swap.
