Grey Vs Shadowline Trim on Phytonic Blue
Placed order for X7 M50I in Phytonic Blue.
I was not able to decide between Grey trim and Shadowline trim, anyone went through the same dilemma? I couldn't find car with similar specs anywhere nearby. I saw some pics here and still confused. If it is between chrome and shadowline i would have picked shadowline. Grey trim is making it hard. Greatly appreciate any inputs. Last edited by ImperialBlue; 04-30-2021 at 08:39 AM.. |

I strongly recommend against the cerium grey trim, which means black shadowline as the only alternative. I personally like the blacked shadowline, especially on the front grille, which to me is just wayyyy too much chrome or cerium grey. But even for those who like the look of the cerium grey, (which I do, more than chrome) it is incredibly delicate with spots, stains, and fingerprints.
I took this picture a long time ago on a brand new M50i on the dealer lot. All I did was touch it with the pad of my thumb and drag it across the surface, and you can see the spots it made. Not damaging, but just the material showing every touch print.

We have a 2020 Black Sapphire Metallic M50i with the Cerium Gray and for us, we wouldn’t have it any other way. While they may show a few more spots, I haven’t seen the results WB is showing above... though to be honest, I don’t go around smudging my mirrors. lol
That said, it looks awesome when clean. And depending on your “cleaning” preference or dedication, for which I admittedly have minimal, it can look even better. I was planning on running my car through the touchless wash today. I can post a pic when I get back, if you’d like. I think the other thing to consider, and you obviously are, is which will look better to you with your exterior color. We wanted black and really liked the contrast between the BSM and Cerium Grey. Especially with the Cerium Grey wheels... it really looks sharp. John |

Here’s a pic of the Cerium Grey.
Clarification... It washed and dried.... hasn’t been detailed yet this year and I’m by no means a car washing / detailing fanatic. I wish I was though or at least could be. Unlike the Stones though, time is not on my side. I took more pics and will post them in the random post thread. The only post I ever made there was a semi-crappy one when we got the car. Good luck... whichever you choose will be awesome!! |

Thanks a lot guys for your input. This is the only option I am not sure. I might be happy either way.
Wanted to elevate the sporty look given that it is M50I. I asked my sales rep to add the shadow line. If it looks any where close to below i will a happy camper. I am not sure about this option until I see it in person |
