Service Due, Engine Oil at Minimum Level...I'm at 1000 miles

I understand the service due will come on early and show you how many miles you have left before service but should my oil really be a quart low after 1000 miles? Should I top it off with a quart or just bring to the dealer for the 1200 mile service?

Is the car telling you to add oil or it's just in the min level?

The oil gets changed at first service, so unless you get a low warning telling you to add oil, wait.

No I did have the warning...and I brought it in. They did the 1200 mile service even though I was at 1050. The car is scary now wow.

Take it easy on her for break in. It shouldn't burn oil unless you're flooring the shit out of it.

Curious...why is it "scary" now? Is that because you are now revving the engine higher or due to some other change

The manual says you should also gradually take it up to redline until you hit 3k miles.

Just had the same thing happen to me on my 2011 M3. Definitely havent beat the car or run it that hard during break in and havent gone over the 5,500RPM limit either.

Called dealership and they said they wont do the 1,200 mile service until it is over that mileage. So I bought a litre of oil today but should I not add any oil? I was only going to add maybe 1/4 or a half as I only need 180 miles more for the 1,200 mile service which I scheduled a week from today.

Any help or suggestions would be appreicated guys!

No problem just seen some posts saying the oil that comes in the car is different then what it is changed to after 1,200 miles. I have no issues adding 1/2 a quart but saw some post saying not to. I am going to pull it into the garage (level surface) and reset the oil level manually, if it still shows it as low then I will just add 1/2 a litre. Thanks!

didnt mean that the way it probably read!

reset the levels, and if need be throw in alittle just to bring it up,

i d say a quarter of the bottle, but the indicator probably wont even register it,

just enough to get you off the minimum,

your ll have no problems.
