Hey so my car started making this noise from what seems to be the cd slot after I had the battery disconnected for like two days while doing my starter. The noise sometimes stops and then comes back. Doesn't happen when the Nav CD is out of the slot. Also it now has issues sometimes it throws an error and doesn't wanna show the nav. This never happened or had any issues before unplugging the battery. Any ideas?

I'm using what seems to be an OEM CD too

Sounds like the cd/dvd drive has gone out of alignment, this was very common on the older e46 nav units especially when the power was removed (when the nav was spinning).

I would always eject the disc before removing the battery.

I suspect that you need replacement cd/dvd drive unit.

Mhm I see. I think taking it all apart and trying to make it work putting it back together would do more harm than good. Can that be replaced by itself? If so I might take apart a unit from a junkyard car and swap the parts in mine

You can try, you have the older CCC unit and it has 2x cd/dvd drives in it.

Have a look on ebay, bare in mind you could be buying one that has the same fault.

I think if it was me, i'd use the opportunity to upgrade to a PRO cic setup, you guys in the states have cheaper prices for the PRO cic than us in europe.

Well I considered doing that for a bit but then I put the CD in the other day and it completely stopped and it's reading nav just fine, so for now I don't think it needs to be changed out lol.

Maybe it just didn't seat right into it or something last time or it was off and had time to re adjust itself without a cd for a few days? No idea
