Wheel hub rust ???

I recently changed back to my summer tire/wheel package.

On both rear wheels, on the part where the wheel hub is, on the car's subframe (not on the wheels), I notice quite a bit of rust build-up. This only occured on the rear wheels - the fronts look like new with only a few fecs of rust. The rear looks like a 4/5 year old car. This after only one winter and only 3000 Kms.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Should I be woried about defective rear hubs on my car ?

Your imput is appreciated.

yah, i have the same problem too and ive heard that it comes with the territory..shouldnt be a problem, just make sure to put some wd40 and some anti-seize stuff between the wheel and the hub and you should be ok..

brakes and hubs will rust like crazy, just make sure anti seize is applied like the above poster said and you won't have wheels that are un removable due to rust

If you use agressive wheel cleaners, and don't rinse down your wheels/tires often when driving on "treated" roads, this can happen.
I wash my wheels by hand, with only mild car soap, NO wheel cleaners or solvents. And, anytime my vehicle is exposed to salt or chemical roads, i pressure rinse the hell out of the wheels and undercarriage. I am lucky too that I don't get too much poor weather in Virginia Beach. But, like I said for all the others, don't use strong solvents or wheel cleaners, and your hubs, rotors, ect should stay like this...

Look like you have ASA AR1 rims. Can you tell me where you got the BMW hub caps to fit on these wheels since the ASA hub is bigger than the stock ones?

I just got back from getting all 4 discs replaced. They had so much rust that the car would start shaking everytime that I hit the brakes.

I got them free with the wheels, from tirerack.com. I heard that the e36 hubs fit the ASA wheels, but can't confirm since mine came with the wheels.
