Live life to the fullest
Folks up until Friday I was the fittest I’ve been in my life. Run, cycle, to a good standard, resistance training and great job/life.
Had chest pain for a few weeks so finally got a doc’s appointment. They were not happy and the next thing I know I am in the coronary care unit facing a bypass, having had a heart attack at some point over the last two weeks. No medical history to make mention of, completely out of the blue. As the post says, enjoy life while you can, fate is a bitch! |

Sorry to hear this Mr Burt.
Please take comfort in the fact that they have perfected Bypass Surgery to such an extent now it has become reasonably routine. I am sure you will make a full and speedy recovery |

Great message and advice. Specially for people that dedicate so much time and stress to the profession, many times leaving family and friends behind in priority.
Mr Burt I wish and I'm sure you will have a fast recovery. Take care! |

Sorry to hear this, but loving your upbeat tone, and message! I've had a couple of colleagues need bypass surgery out of the blue. One aged 43 following an annula health MOT through work, and the other following a heart attack at 57. It sparked a level of realisation amongst a few of us that we take so much in life for granted.

heart problems are well problematic to diagnose.
last week I had a wife drag her husband to the surgery and she complained that 'he seems depressed and isn't doing much in past 2 weeks' He denied any symptoms. A cursory examination of his heart and lung revealed all and he was away to get treated. Could have missed it. Thats what sometimes doctors and patients are up against when it comes to the heart. Wishing you good luck. Many of my patients are 15 years post bypass and appreciating and enjoying life to the fullest. The NHS has your back! |

Knowing there's a problem, and being in the hands of our excellent NHS, is the best place to be (apart from not having a problem of course) - far better than something serious going undetected until it's too late.
All the best - this is fairly routine surgery these days. You'll be back on your feet in no time

Sorry to read what you are going through.
Mr TP is going through something a little similar. A couple of weeks ago he finally called 111 after having several weeks of breathlessness and feeling tired and lethargic. They told him to get himself to A&E straight away where they did some tests and admitted him pretty damn quick to the AAU ward. His resting heart rate was over 200bpm in atrial fibrillation and he had water on his lungs. He ended up being admitted for 4 nights to get his heart rate under control. One of his heart valves is only operating at 25-30% efficiency and blood is leaking back into the chamber it's meant to be pumped from. He was discharged with a massive bag of medication which has almost made him feel as ill as the initial problem. Released under strict instructions not to take any exercise, not to walk the dogs and basically just rest. This week he's got another appointment to check his heart rate is back under control and scans to see what needs to be done with the valve. Reading his sick note and seeing the words "heart failure" was pretty sobering and scary. Certainly makes you think. Oh, and while he was in hospital, someone hit his car in the car park! It's now at the body shop having a new front passenger door and repairs to the rear door. At least the person left a note and number.. Good luck with everything moving forward. |

Thank you for all the positive and supportive comments, really appreciate it.
I have to say I’m crapping myself thinking my chest is going to be cracked open and my heart messed about with, but as I have no control of that and it will save my life I just need to sit back and roll with it. Worst case scenario there will be a lovely F31 340 in the classified section, one owner recently departed |
