placed hunting weekend on hold to fix the oil leak!

My wife threatens to leave me if I don't fix the oil leak that dripping on the garage floor...I placed hunting weekend on hold and got the job done. Took me entire Saturday and part of Sunday. Now, time for a beer!
1) Replaced valve cover gasket
2) Replaced oil filter housing gasket
3) Replaced oil pan gasket
4) Replace the front differential O-ring
5) Replaced both left and right drive axel seals
6) Replaced front and rear differential oil
7) Replaced transmission oil filter/pan and fluid
8) Replace power steering fluid
9) Replaced brake fluid
10) Replaced coolant

Wondering how much it would cost if I had it done at the BMW dealership.

About the same as a divorce. You saved yourself a lot of money.

Sorry about your weekend. Just keep repeating to yourself " Happy wife, happy life!".

Man, I don't know if I would skip a hunting weekend. Where at in MI do you hunt?
I usually hunt around Bellair.

But did it fix the leak??

Nice job - that is a LOT to get done in 1.5 days. Especially as my understanding is that the oil pan gasket on an Xi is no fun at all.

No lift...worked on my back. Just plan ahead and order parts you need. Only thing I forgot to order was the transfer case fluid. I'll get it done at the next oil change. Everything was simple except dropping the subframe to replace the gasket. The XI requires removing the drive axles and front differential in order to remove the oil pan. I had replaced several oil pan gaskets so the job becomes easier now. I heard BMW charges over $1,000 just to replace the gasket. I guess, I saved enough for beer money the rest of the year!
Here are my takes:
1) If you purchase cheap aftermarket transmission oil pan, reuse the original OEM bolts. Don't use the new bolts came with the pan. Based on my past experience, if you use the new bolts, steel is soft and there is a good chance you ruining the threads on the transmission.
2) Always use new bolts for the oil pan. First time I was cheap out and reused the old bolts, one broke caused too much headache.
3) Replace the O-ring and seal on the front differential if you have XI. They tend to leak.

Woman with no peace of mind equates to husband with no piece at night. Well done OP. Marriage is all about compromise. Forget all the things you want and do what she wants you to, everything will be just fine.
