Why are dealerships quoting such high prices for their HEA cars?
I've spoken with a couple of dealers who have an HEA allocation. Many only know the int/ext options, wheels, main packages, and rough MSRP. But, I've been quoted $98K for an M3C and $103K for an M4C. I don't understand how these builds are hitting those numbers. Wouldn't you need to fully load it out with ceramic brakes, CF package, CF bucket seats, etc. to get anywhere close to that? I'm wondering if I'm way off base because I was thinking that a nicely optioned M3C would land in the lower $80k range.
Here's the basic 'knowns' I was given on the $98K car: BMW M3 Comp Blk Saphire/blk extended merino leather Jet Black Wheels Parking assistance Executive Package Given the pricing sheets floating around, that should land at about $79K. Base Price USA Port of Entry $72,800 475 Black Sapphire Metallic $550 LKSW Black Extended Merino Leather $STD ZPK Parking Assistance Professional Package $1,700 ZPX Executive Package $3,000 Destination & Handling $995 = $79,045 Curious where the other 19K is coming from. I'll ask the dealer the same question, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it. Last edited by Beerflakes; 10-15-2020 at 09:04 AM.. |

HEA allocations are normal production vehicles that just happen to be the first built and are subject to a limited selection of options. There is nothing beyond that that makes them special. Sometimes BMW (and other manufacturers) produce a limited "First Edition" model with unique content at extra cost (typically of questionable tangible value, IMHO), but that has not been the approach in this case. |

that particular dealer may be opting to charge a mark up, certainly their right. But that does seems steep from what I have seen. Reality is a lot of the huge markups some dealers ask for, they end up getting or getting some of and hey can't knock them for trying and accomplishing it. Good thing for you all and everyone is if you dont like the deal you have option to go with any dealer in US its a great balance

Most are optioning them fully loaded in order to show or explain features. All will have CF Bucket seats as well.

Dealers always act as if they are the victim. They need to "make money to survive". Poor victims. Struggling to meet their $20M profit goals.
Any dealer marking up vehicles over MSRP is a right off for me. Even thought it is their "right".

From my conversations it’s not markup but the ability to show customers the available options.
