CS Color Choice Dilemma

I have come down w/ a serious case of paralysis by over analysis.. ugh

After a the year-long wait leading up to my allocation, I thought I had a committed / firm decision on my spec.

My order: MB - 6MT - M-CCB - GLD 763M - Cup2

I love that BMW used blue as the launch color. It has been my go to color of choice since I got my license.
Even while there is less metallic fleck in the paint, it may be as eye-catching as my ’18 Nitrous Blue Focus RS, which as you can see has been aesthetically modded and affectionately referred to by the misses as the "Douche-Mobile"

**I promise I won't violate the CS this way..., it comes w/ everything it needed from factory. **

However, after seeing an X2M, X1M, and Z4 on the lot, the lack of exclusivity as an M only color really started to put me off.
I recognize it has been mentioned here on Bimmerpost, by Shmee, and others, but it really sank in today.

Hockenheim is the coin flip alternative, which I had a good look at today as well.

Yet, while exclusive to a true M color (both Comp ad CS), it isn't an M2 CS only color and certainly falls into nuanced category.

I know the usual reply, "who cares what others think"... but I am truly half committed here and don't know what I think...

For those that either love Misano Blue, were on the fence, or opted out, let's hear the reason for the decision.

I need to give my SA an answer soon..

Thanks y'all!

I would never buy a car in a certain color based on exclusivity with BMW. BMW has repeatedly taken "special" or "M-only" colors and reused them down the line on regular cars. Carbon Black, Melbourne Red, Le Mans Blue, and Long Beach Blue are 4 off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are others.

I would get Misano Blue if you like the color. I am not a huge fan of HS on this car, so I would opt for Misano Blue or BSM if I were ordering one.

I hear you. I saw a misano blue x1 and it's awful. I think it's especially awful because the body lines on the x1 are a train wreck. Because the M2 lines are much much better I am not worried, at all.

I think that you have to take your own perception (rods and cones) of a color and pick what speaks to you. Do you want to love the color of your car, or love the fact that other people love the color of your car. I believe Misano looks different to different people. I swore I'd never own a black car because of how much dirt they show. Guess what color spoke to me. I wanted to love HK/gold, than I tried to force myself on MB/gold. BSM/gold is the only combo that really gave me an emotional tug.

I chose HS because it's exclusive to the M2. X1 was first to feature Misano Blue.

Get the color because you like it not because of exclusivity. This isn’t a super car.

Misano color looks brilliant and honestly helps make it stand out from a regular m2 comp- when you’re already fighting the “is the cs worth 25k” more than the m2 comp, at least get the color the regular m2 comp doesn’t have

The “cs” is recognizable only by enthusiasts and when you’re paying that much for the car and you run down to cars and coffee to see m2 comps with a replica cs hood and a paint job- aren’t you going to wish you had a unique color that differentiates you from them?

Maybe a way to look at it instead

I went with HS because...
1. I plan to put on the M Performance Decals and those only work on white or silver.
1a. It's as close as I can get to the 3.0 CSL Homage, white with the gold wheels, M decals. Red brakes. Gonna look insane.
2. My wife likes it in silver.
3. I'm planning on blue for my next family car. Don't want a totally blue garage.

Play a little Russian roulette with it. Call your dealer every few days and switch it back and forth until you’re unable to place a request and wait and see which one you end up with.

I went for the HS as

1. MB while eye-catching I don't think it's going to fit the brief every time I get in the car as my DD. Sometimes I want a little more low key and MB certainly isn't that
2. The carbon highlights contrast nicely with the HS
3. Until the HS I was about to pull the trigger on a crayon 718 GTS. The HS is quite similar and just always grabbed our attention as something that looked special

HS is hardly stunning. If a Civic were painted in HS no one would notice or bat an eye. Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice color, but stunning is the wrong adjective. I don't see how a light gray / silver / white melange of any type can be considered stunning.

These were the shots I was hoping to see!.. Thanks for that!

Best I came across was this moment in Joe Achilles Wheel upgrade video:

I even reached out to him on insta for his professional experienced opinion...

Of course you'll let us all know what Joe has to say if he responds. He seemed to like MB in his video review. Agree when I see the other vehicles in MB it makes me question the choice, but images like Hansomatic posted above (first one) reassure me it will look special on the M2 CS. Almost found myself reconsidering black wheels when I saw that image!

Colours are on point. I think if I was getting a M2C I may not get HS, however in the M2CS you have extra contrast with the black highlights from carbon on the trunk, roof, front lip, wing mirrors and rear gurney spoiler. It's that black on HS contrast I think that would go well.

It's quite simple. Misano blue looks shit on the cooking models but looks magic on the M2 with all the black bits.

Not exactly sure how you define M exclusive on the Hockenheim Silver... So if your excuse is you don't like MB on an X2, not sure how you feel about HS on a scooter.

Haa.. Wow!
If the ADM isn't too steep on that scooter, I may drop my CS allocation all together..:

For those that are as obsessed as I am, I stumbled on this EU based site over the weekend.

https://www.theparking-cars.com/used...bmw-m2-cs.html

Interesting to see the prices and number of cars available in each country.
