19" rim suggestions for NYC
currently have breyton race GTS in 19, but either they are really weak rims or i have the absolute worse luck. had them for two months and have destroyed 3 rims.
yesterday hit a moderate pothole (suspension didnt bottom out) and i bent a front rim and cracked a rear. i've bent my share of rims in my time, it was not that severe of a bent inner lip, but the barrel of the wheel cracked more than 1/3 the circumference around. that surprised me because i did not expect the wheel to crack that badly. surprisingly, the tire looks fine. i'm starting to suspect the rims. anyone have any luck with either the VMR CSL reps or the VMR 710s, or any other 19" rim. posting this in the NY forum as i'm sure you guys have felt my pain at one point or another. TIA

Dunno on quality of said rims in particular, but usually with potholes that's what you gonna get on a rim that has so little rubber between it and the road. Don't think that even the best, strongest and lightest models will be immune to cracking.
perhaps buy tyres with bigger sidewall? might scrub though, so you have to research a bit. I was pretty sure that M3 with 18s have bigger wheels in circumference... so perhaps try those sizes and see what you get. We here have awful roads in places and that's the only reason I went for 17s which I consider barely enough to NOT look like shit but is about maximum you can have without fearing of cracking the rim on average potholes.

I would recommend 18's for poor road conditions, but we have had many customers use our 19" wheels in areas where roads aren't the best and in winter conditions without any issues.
