Rattle from window / door area

Hi Guys

I have a super annoying rattle from window / door area, unfortunately I can’t see any way to upload a video here.

I’ve had 3 dealerships visits and so far it’s not been corrected, it’s from any speed on uneven roads. It’s a clicking / rattle.

I’ve had Door Pin secured, new window frame seals and the B pillar shadow line gross trim readjusted.

All this has not made a blind bit of difference, anyone have any other ideas what could be causing it ?

The only other thing that’s happened to this door was the seal along the bottom came away and has been replaced twice so far.

Which surprises me as it’s the passager door and mostly I drive alone. I have also put that gummy pledge on all the doors seals.

Check the sunroof. I had a similar rattle that sounded like it was coming from the passenger door/seat. Turns out it was the sunroof seal. It would rattle with the shade open but not with it closed.

I had a really annoying rattle from the roof area and it was coming from the dome light. There was a missing bolt and it was replaced. Rattle is gone. Hope this helps.

This was eventually fixed by rubbing BMW silicone remover on all the rubber door seals, this was done by the master tech in dealership, who also told me it was caused by using gumfledge on the seals, the new rubber used on G RANGE doesn’t get on with gumfledge.

I have the same sun roof rattle - stupid question: what's gumfledge?

This was door rattle, in fairness it started in its own, after reading on here. I tired the gumfledge which made things much worse.

Before gumfledge there was a mild slightly annoying rattle over bumps, after using it .. it rattled non stop on flat roads, I was seriously considering selling the car, it got that bad.

I have to use the silicone remover every 6 -9 months or so, but it’s gone each time, funny thing is.. it only effects one door.

But this is the stuff https://www.schmiedmann.co.uk/en/pro...3-12-2-298-199

I posted it on the F44 forum [wifes] and a few boys already used it and it’s cured their door and boot creaking.

There is also a you tube video (BMW mini) about a guy that was trying to solve door rattle for months and once he used it, boom silent again and the gumfledge made his worse too.

I use BMW gumfledge on my G30 boot rubbers, without issue thou.

Plus 1000s of posts on the F30 owners forum with this issue, and all warning NOT to use gumfledge in fact Dealerships was installing special clear stick on M3 tape on the door frames to help.

Thanks for sharing! I sure will be saving this info in case rattles show up, I would be mad too. Actually one of the stronger points in this car for me is that it is rattle free.

I am sure you checked the passenger seatbelt buckle rattle on the B pillar. Just throwing it out there.

Looks at Joe, do you not plug your passenger seat belt in, when your driving on your own, to prevent any potential for cabin noise?

The issue was silicone / car wax on the rubber door seals, causing the doors rod flex and rattle when moving.

this was driving me up the wall earlier this year.
in my case, it turned out to be the rear top light after the emergency call battery was replaced.
i haven't heard that noise recently - if i'm going deaf, hey it's worth it, i'll never hear that damn noise again...

I don't, but after all these years, I finally learned what that sliding clip is on the seat belt. So I slid it up high so my buckle is on the alcantara rather than the B pillar vinyl and the rattle or knock is gone.

The issue with leaving it plugged in is that when you stop the car, the radio plays for a long time unless you lock it. I don't want to have to get into the habit of unbuckling the passenger side every time I stop.
