Now I am as mad at BMW as the grill hater crowd!

Edit: despite my frustration with the complexity this adds to my own personal new car cycle timing, I generally assumed if it wasn't a fast follow, like a month or so, it would be July sop and coincide with the 2022 US model year and bmws usual annual update cycle

PS thanks as always for the info

That sucks..that screws me on my lease end timing. I'm going to have to buy my X3 and wait it out. Lease is up in February, they won't extend it that long.

Great to finally have the date to look forward to. Taken the covid situation with very limited driving for my family, maybe a tenth of normal miles this is acceptable for me. I don’t want to take the first 10k of depreciation standing mostly still. My 6y old F80 stands still as well as the G82

Thanks ynguldun!

I disagree with your thinking, as BMWFS will extend to get you into a AWD. Take the no questions asked 2 month lease extension, place your order April 2021, and provide BMWFS your production number, calmly requesting special accommodation from BMWFS to hold you over until you take delivery.

This means G83 SOP is July 2021:

That sucks. I might have to explore the alternatives if it is delayed that much. Initially, I was hoping for March 2021 but that's almost half a year later.

Typical BMW. Just like when they used to introduce the old man SE spec 6 months to a year before they released M Sport.

I didn't think about it that way. I thought I could only extend 2 months regardless.

Will this awd model then be the LCI for the model? Or typical Bmw one year then next year LCI?

LCI after less than a year from SOP? I can’t see that happening.

Excellent timing for the AWD models. By that time there should be plenty of aftermarket bumper/normal kidney grill options.

Not sure how this will playout or the take rates... the awd will always be faster but the rwd more pure? And what if the awd drift as well if not better? That only leaves the weight penalty... will one be for drag racing and one for sliding? I dunno...

I would not have wanted AWD under any circumstances. Even though you can select it (just like the F9x M5/M8), I don't want the added weight.

I'm an avid skiier. With blizzaks, my RWD M3's can traverse any conditions.
