CCC -> CIC Upgrade - Who do you recommend?

Hi All - any recommendations for someone that is able to supply & retrofit CIC into my '08 E90 M3 with CCC?

A few years ago Makkan (from this forum) done the upgrade for me on my 335i, now I am looking for the same on my M3 but don't think Makkan provides that service anymore.

I've had a quote from one company specialising in BMW retrofits - £1,740 for DAB CIC & combox supply & install - that seems quite high so looking to get some competitive quotes - alternatively, for anyone that's had this done, how much did you pay and can you recommend who did it for you?

Also consider a carplay box. It takes over the system and and works with your existing screen and controller. And it supports things like a backup camera. Not sure about DAB though. I have these on all 3 of my CIC retrofits and I don't really use CIC for anything other than FM radio.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use the CCC version then, avoiding the need to retrofit CIC?? Or are there other benefits of doing both CIC retrofit and CarPlay box?

I have not seen a CCC version personally. The screen has less resolution. And the controller may be slower to click around.

I've gone the DIY route - found a seller on eBay who could supply DAB CIC, controller, screen & combox, fully update the software incl 2020 maps, and precode wherever needed using my VIN (including all the unlocking/fsc codes so I don't need to use an emulator.)

Then I've purchased all the cables and connectors from kufatech/eBay.

I have everything in a box ready to install, just waiting for the damned screen connectors and glovebox usb to arrive from Lithuania, feels like it's taking ages.

Will be interesting to see if the precoding works or if I'll have to make few tweaks.

I was quoted about £1,700 all in for DAB CIC & Combox retrofit by various sellers on Instagram (I've already got DAB CCC).

I've managed to gather all the parts, pre coded/unlocked etc, for around £900 - leaving £800 to pay myself for 2-3hrs labour

Wow that seems a lot cheaper. I've found scarp cars that are being sold for parts and they r willing to give the full cic systems for abt $700. Once i get everything off the doner car what else would i need? Ik I'll need coding but I'm hoping someone on here can help me with that part. I'd need an emulator? How abt any wires harnesses...?

All you need is these cables to go with headunit and screen
https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-CCC-CIC....c100005.m1851

Also try to get a CIC that is 2012+ unit as they are the latest C1A firmware. As for coding its all here

Wow that coding looks rly complicated 😂. Hardware looks not too bad tho. As for the final product, when i finish and am upgraded to cic what do i need to be able to have Bluetooth and be able to play videos and stuff on the screen. Sorry for all the quistions it's my second day with a Beamer so rly excited 😂!

If you source a DAB CIC running the latest C1A firmware I can help you with the rest. PM me your full VIN.

Glad you got it sorted. People want way too much for DAB CIC units.
