Ever had a coil die soon after replacement?

I had a coil in cylinder 5 die about 4 weeks ago. I replaced just the single coil and all was good. Now this week the exact same cylinder is giving the same symptoms. Due to weather I haven't had a chance to diagnose properly (used OBD II to find the cylinder) but it feels just like a busted coil (could be plug, but it seems like a coincidence that I recently touched this cylinder).

Have you seen a coil die so soon after install? There's nothing wrong with the install (can't really screw up a coil on these engines). Coil is NGK brand.

It’s possible but you may have an injector issue. I’ve had an injector take a coil out before.

What have you done to diagnose bad coil plug? What are the symptoms? Your post is very vague. Could be bad injector. Could be bad spark plug. Could be internal engine issue. Could the the ECU. Could be defective new coil. Nobody can help you remotely especially if you don’t provide relevant details

I'm not asking for help diagnosing the problem, I'm asking if anyone has had a coil pop within weeks of replacing it.

Something else to consider is the quality of the coil that was installed, for example junk Autozone/eBay chinese coil vs OE/OEM.

For coils? I know they exist, but they certainly are not popular(doesn't mean they're bad). Eldor is the current favorite, as far as I know.

Yep not popular here but op is from a different continent. Not sure what prompted op to try those over bosch or eldor, hey could be the issue who knows

Or could not be the issue at all and op is replacing coils expecting to fix problem not caused by bad coil.

Yes, not sufficient info on cylinder 5.

I'll bite. I've had several coils go bad shortly after install, but they were eBay/Amazon or fake Bosch coils.

Nope, never had a coil fo after replacement. On Eldor Coils, never had any issues with coils.

Your post is a bit vague and it Could be the coil or something else, no point assuming, you need to properly diagnose, otherwise you'll be wasting time wnd money om parts that don't fix your issue.

Eldor or failing that Delphi ones, I would never use anything else.
