Has anyone dyed their leather or carpet ?

I did a full interior swap from tan to black and I want to know if anyone has tried any leather or carpet dyes. I have the two tone dash and still have tan carpets and want to dye them black. does anyone have any recommendations or tips ?

I did research once to dye my leather headrests and I concluded that there was very little chance of it ending up looking anything but mottled and fugly so learned to live with the monster sized headrests my F30 has.

Carpeting? I'd just put in the black carpets and leave the 'underneath carpet as is. Otherwise, I'd think the only way to dye the carpet is by removing the seats, carpet, and replacing it with the proper color carpet. Lots of work....

There's products out there to do this... None of them will create an oem finish, I'd car-part.com for black interior pieces to swap out from a wrecked car.

I had some wear on my driver seat a few months back. I'm a pretty apt individual when it comes to this kind of stuff so figured I'd take it on. Bought the color matched dye, a mini air sprayer time help blend the areas. Figured th e quarantine was th e perfect time to try it because I had all the time in the world to tinker and get it right.
Long story short, after three failed attempts I shelled out the $125 and had my driver professionally re-dyed. Took him 5 god damn minutes and looks great.
Apparently he used a lacquer based dye as opposed to the water based that is predominantly used nowadays.
Pay the money for someone else to do it if your serious about it. Too many intangibles and nuances that could ruin your attempts. imagine what your brand new interior would like with a failed redye on the remaining parts. It would turn it into a waste of money.

That being said, not sure you can redye a carpet
