That's not unusual. The can catches oil and water vapor, which when mixed can look like that. The good news is that it got caught by the can instead of going through the PCV.

Yup, also known as "milkshake". Happens if you take short trips and the car doesn't get up to temp. As mentioned above, excess water vapor

The liquid in my N55 catch can looks like oily water.. sorta.. with floaties and smells like death turpentine. Just NASTY.

How often do you guys check your oil catch can?

I only installed it about 3000 miles ago.

Every oil change.. the can is about half full by then.

I only drive some 4,000 miles a year, 3,000 of that between April and November. I never have any significant accumulation in the fall, but come spring I have a fair amount of oil/water sludge in the can. Short trips in cold weather are hardest on the engine and battery.

Since changing to the 5w40 I barely get anything in the can. There's a residue or film but no liquid, when I first installed the can and with the 0w20 I'd get a tiny bit of oil/water/fuel mix.

Not sure if it's better or worse just saying.

The b58 does seem to like the thicker oil and the ngk 94201 for sure.
