Is comfort access RELIABLE ?

Hi All

I set my car to "Lock automatically when I walk away.
it has been working quite well, except a few times when I do walk away and it just does not work!!

Does anybody have this issue?

To open I just leave the key in my pocket and open with handle.
I have not set comfort access to autoopen on approach.

Anybody know why the autolock is not that reliable or had the same experience?

Thanks

No problems with my car.
Mine is set to Auto Unlock and auto lock when walk to the car or walk away. Works, perfectly every time.

Have you ever left the key or credit card key in the car? These might stop the car from locking.

Hi Steve

Thanks for that.
Interesting I carry the key card in my wallet, but have never left my wallet in the car.

I will monitor this , it just happened tonight , I had the key with me and walked out the garage , normally a couple of steps out the garage it lock and the mirrors close, but tonight no lock I had to lock it manually.
Maybe its too cold

I have a suspicion it may have happened once to me. I know that from then on I always walk away slowly and listen for the mirrors to fold as conformation. It's been 100% since then.

Have it set to auto lock both when walking to and away from the car.

Walking up to the car it's fine. Walking away works 8/10 time.

What I find is that it'll lock when I'm walking around from say the drivers side to the passengers side, close to the car, so if anything it's too sensitive.

It has a number of times not locked when walking away as well. I have the bleep set so I know when it hasn't auto locked.

Ah thanks for that del82 , glad to know that I am not the only one that has experienced this.
When you say you have the bleep set so you know it has not auto locked, can you tell me which setting this is in the menu ?
Thanks

No problems with mine. Walk away and lock.

The kick under the boot to open the boot is a bit finicky.

Ah thanks erawamai good to know.

I think the trick with the boot is to do a medium speed kick aligned with the badge.
But I agree, sometimes it does not work and it looks pretty stupid when people see you kicking the boot repeatedly

I set it to only lock on walking away as a "back up". I'm used to touching the door handles and using the lock button on the boot lid to lock.

Turned off the unlock on approach function on the first week as it was locking and unlocking when I was wandering through the garage 😂

You gotta touch the door handle to open the door anyway!

Hahhaha, I agree.

I may follow the same process as you, always lock with the door handle and if I forget and walk away it should lock itself ...good approach

I thought the tech was really nifty, you walk away and it locks voila no worries, but obviously some of us have a 80/20 hit rate, so you still need to check just in case.

there is a limitation in that it will not work if the car has not been driven for a few days...the number of days isn't specified but I saw on another forum that the consensus was about 4 days.
And if there is another key within about 6 metres of the car, it supposedly won't work either.

But I have never had an issue with it on my car.
I've got it set for lock only. I did have it set for unlock as well , but it drove me crazy... unlocking whenever I was nearby with the key.

Yeah, mine is not 100%, so I turned on the beep on lock function so I can hear if it hasn't worked... it works maybe 8/10.
I do find that when parked in certain places, or I leave from certain positions/angles it's more temperamental too. I have a large wall at the side of the drive and if I walk in a certain position it never likes it 🤷🏻

If your phone, NFC enabled credit card, security swipe card etc get in the way of your key (same pocket or in between key and car somehow) then it doesn't work as reliably or at all.

Have you separated everything from your pockets and see if it still behaves weird?

Naah , turning off comfort access auto lock when walking away, just washed the car..hahahah.. the car was doing the autolock dance.. I could always leave the key far away.

My thoughts are , if i always have to doublecheck then I might as well just lock it manually on the door handle instead of walking away and hope it locks and then have to take the key out my pocket and lock it if it doesnt. i'm soo lazy hahaha

When you’re washing the car, leave the key inside.
It will save all that locking/unlocking BS.
