I am looking to tackle this on Monday. I have the ftp charge pipes and an eBay special fmic.

I read some people saying to others that they need to make sure they fit the o rings on the charge pipes? I am just double checking this is not the case for ftp charge pipes as they have them already built in?

I don't want to be caught with boost leaks after fitting it all etc

Also I bought my kit off eBay but just noticed in ftp website for the same kit you have option between manual and auto. I didn't have the option on eBay nor does it state what the application of the kit is for. Is there a difference on the n20?

Not yet. There are o rings in the ftp pipes already? Curious if anyone else had fitted the ftp pipes and their opinion.

i have ftp charge and tic pipes but used my OEM orings. why don't you test fit it and see how it is? so easy to do while it's uninstalled.

So you used the oem o rings as well as the ftp o rings already built in?

Did you reuse them or buy new?

you can only use one or the other.

my ftp orings were in the box but not in the pipe. my car was young when i did it, so i just carefully pulled the OEM orings out and placed them in the FTP pipe. the OEM orings are more delicate and of a different style than what FTP gives you. before using the OEM orings i cleaned the oil off and put some tire dressing on them(wiped off the excess). i still have the FTP orings somewhere in my garage.

Oh I see my ftp pipes already came the o rings installed.

I will trial fit it with the intercooler tomorrow . How tight should the intercooler and charge pipe be?

in your photo the green one has a little wrinkle at the 9:30 position. lightly massage it and make sure it's all uniform without wrinkles. the red one looks great. it will be fairly snug with a slight bit of play. when the pipe is pressurized the little flap will maintain the seal. that's why it needs to be without any wrinkle in the flap.

I not noticed that on the green one. Will it be ok you reckon?

Or do you have part numbers for oem in case I need to replace them?

go ahead and take the green one out and reinstall it. if the wrinkle exists i'd use the OEM one if its in good condition. just check the condition of the rubber.

the green one might be okay, even with the wrinkle, but lets say you determined you had a leak, that wrinkled part would be suspect.

Will give it ago in morning (UK time). Thank you for your help.

Will report back of wrinkle goes or not.

Do you know the oem part numbers for the set of rings from the pipes to the intercooler?

i don't know the part numbers. FTP is the only one that supplies orings. every other brand you either buy new orings or re-use the old ones if they are in good condition.

okay, don't lose too much sleep over it.

Lol. I try not too. Just had a quick look at the green o ring. I don't think it can be pulled out and is quite rigid

Pic from another angle.

it can come out. it's a replaceable part. you have to use a pick tool and be careful not to tear it. this angle doesn't look as bad. might be okay.

Managed to get out. Quite easy when you've done it once or twice. Repositioned it and looks like the kink has gone?

Happy days. Will piece together with fmic tomorrow and see tightness is like?

The other o ring is good too. Like you say it's a snug fit and still moves ie to turn pipe around etc but no play so to speak?

Snugness is perfect.

It's not difficult, but the most difficult part is removing the black plastic retaining clip on the OEM charge pipe. You have to pull(or push) it towards the intercooler.

I tried to make a videoclip with my OEM pipe, to no avail, sorry.

Kies motorsport has video of the install on youtube. I'd review it 1st.

I checked by feeling and nothing there. I know there is a difference between manual and auto? Maybe autos use this?

Yes. Mine is auto. I'm not sure about manual. Ypu will have to get a some kind of cover and a worm gear clamp.

Or get aicraft metal speed tape and cover it from inside. Nicer flow
