Blacked out badges are a great detail

I tried doing the dip thing twice. Just couldn’t get it to look right. Apparently Florida heat and humidity affect how it dries/adheres, and I needed more coats/drying time (I did 6 coats each time.)

My fiancé got tired of watching me fight with it, so she ordered me the ind badges. Great quality, and easy to do.

I’m almost done with the storm trooper build. Just trying to decide if the front lower grill inserts in black are worth the money.

Just saw your other thread. And I agree. The black badges are a nice detail. I thought of doing mine in black and debadged them to paint it but I like the debadged look so left it as is.
And I think you should get the black lower inserts too to complete the look.

How easy is it to line up each letter/number so perfectly? Does it come with something or do you have to eyeball it?

You leave enough of the old sticker goo to tell where they were, it's pretty easy.

Or you can use tape to mark the area before removing the old badge and installing the new one. Unless you’re debadged where it won’t work.

I used blue painters tape around the outside to mark the outer edges of everything. Because I am ocd I also ripped the tape into pointed edges to mark the left most edge of each ‘middle’ letter. Was super easy.

Hardest thing was removing old adhesive. I used dawn dish soap and a microfiber towel.

Yup. That’s how I would’ve done it too.

I used goo gone. Worked wonderfully and didn’t need any elbow grease either.
