Turning Off

I just came across the fact that you do not need to put the vehicle in park before turning it off, simply turn it off and it will go in park itself.

Yeah, there are all sorts of little hidden/less obvious nuggets of functionality like that in the X7. The X7 is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.....

Yes, I figured this out by mistake shortly after taking delivery. The little things.

I noticed that too. Seems to be a good feature but does anyone know if it's bad for the car in any way?

It is norman for this car, no worries. Also if shifter in S/M position, it will go back in normal after engine stop.

Well, most of my nuggets have come from this forum , but here is one that might not be too widely known that involves the Driving Assistance Professional Package...

If you are at a stoplight, specifically at the front with no cars in font of you, and you turn on the system the X7 will remain stationary. But when the light turns green and you hit the "Set" button, the X7 will start to drive semi-autonomously, just as if you activated the system when the X7 is moving.

Same scenario as above at a stoplight, except this time you are stopped behind another car. Turn on the system, except this time the car will start to drive semi-autonomously as soon as the car in front of you begins to move after the light turns green. No need to hit the "Set" button.

Lastly, with the system on, when you come to a stop at a stoplight (when behind another car) you don't need to keep your hands on the steering wheel while waiting for the light to turn green. After you start moving, though, the "hand timer" will start up again...
