I'm coming to the end of my lease and waited for the 2021 540i and I'm disappointed in the color range and lack of options and it just has that feel of not the same value as my 2017!
Just seems to high for the lack of options. I also waited for for the 4er to come out and YUK!
My current car, I can buy for 42,000 plus taxes at 0.9% and it's only got 12,500 miles on it. It's like new and got a great spec.

Mediterranean Blue
Ivory white Nappa leather
Cold weather pack
Driving assistance pack
Driving assistance plus pack
Driver assistance plus II pack
Luxury seating pack
M-Sport pack
Dynamic damper control
20" individual alloys
Premium pack
M-Sport brakes
Power sun shades
Remote parking (waste of money)
Apple Car play
Harmon-Kardon
Port installed items
Black kidney grill
M performance side sill decals
M performance exhaust
Chrome exhaust tips
Painted rear spoiler
LED door projectors

What would you do????

I’d hold onto it. The LCI seems lackluster for the price premium.

But you would have to decide if the LCI adds anything you must have to the table...

Side question. But what do you do for the seats? They look immaculate and I am trying to figure out what to do for mine to keep them looking good.

likewise, I would hold it. You know the history, it's pristine, no risk at all.

I agree. If you like it, and it has the equipment you want on it, hold it. Especially if you can get that deal or better.

I don't think dealers are looking to add to their inventory after the 2020 production halt and .9% is a damn good rate.

12,500 miles in like new condition... hang on to it unless the deal on the 2021 is phenomenal. And if you were looking to go blue again, I think that Mediterranean blue you have is a lot more attractive than the new phytonic blue.

I use griots leather care but do it regularly with their Interior Leather Cleaner Wipes and then a deep clean twice a year.

Agree with the color. I just love this color combo.

Thanks I'll take a look.

I haven't yet done a care process on my seats, but the car is only 8 months old. Been researching options and seeing what works best so I can make a good start.

Keep it. Beautiful car in like new condition, but I'm biased. Except for wheels and leather it's nearly identical spec and milage to my '19

I'll chime in and agree that if you like your current car by all means keep it. I did this with my 2010 535xi. Had leased it and then bought it out of the lease, That was the old days when the dealer could buy it, Certify it and sell it back to me at a lower price than the residual. But still, I loved the car at the time and kept it for a total of nine years. Very reliable. Sold it to a local friend. A leased car that is bought out and kept for a long time will essentially be the same economic value to the owner as if he had bought it originally. I liked my 535 so much that the 2019 540xi is configured essentially the same way--Carbon Black with tan interior. Plan to keep this a long time too, especially after seeing how they are changing the 540 options and charging so much more for the car. --Bob

I would also elect to keep it unless there is something about the new model that you find worth getting - I have a 2019 540 M-Sport and purposely bought mine before the 2020 MY because of the changes I thought were coming...Btw, I need to clean my left foot rest - I didn't realize that the //M logo is on it...

If you are concerned about rolling off of warranty, purchase an extended warranty. It will still be less expensive that getting a new one.

A lot of folks have been complaining on this forum about the LCI not being very good. I don't think it needs to be very good as the current car is already excellent. It would have been nice if BMW used the LCI to end the reverse tach and I would love to see the tach in the HUD but these are small matters.

Probably the worst aspect of the LCI, from BMW's persepctive, is seen in this thread. We have a customer who with a more extensive LCI might have upgraded but instead will likely be keeping his current car.

its a keep only cuz you've 12K miles on it. If it was around 30K+ miles then its not a $42K car anymore

Also try to negotiate... you can likely buy your car for less than 42k

You should definitely unload it.

(Please tell me what dealer takes it so I can buy it).

The 2021 is not an unconditional improvement like you state, and I fully agree also on the Phytonic blue, which seems not to be a color matching the finesse of the Med blue.

You can display the tach in the HUD on the 2020 model.

Start asking BMWFS for the price that they will charge, don't go by residual only. Heard last year even though price is non negotiable on paper BMWFS were giving some few grand discounts for lease buyout.

Be careful with pricing if you buy warranty (also negotiable and check third party options as well)

Worth a shot, i'd say keep it if you don't drive all that much, you clearly have not grown of the car going by your pictures and with low miles (likely not as much time at the wheel).

Go next gen 5 IF they don't mess it up with walrus size grilles
