Reverting back to stock 325i ecu from bimmerlabs 330i flash

Hi everyone,

I've been using bimmerlabs 330i flash for about 2 years now however I've added on additional mods since and looking to bring my car to a local tuner. I inquired with a company and they asked that I bring the ecu back to the stock 325i ecu map before bringing it in.

Is it really necessary to bring it back to the stock 325i? tune? If yes, I don't remember if I saved my stock tune or if this is something I can retrieve off bimmerlabs.

I've been searching on my laptop and had no luck. Any tips are appreciated.

Dude, your stock files are available in the Daten files. No magic there.

Your tuner is stuck in the dark ages and using OTS files.

Contact Bob and be done with it. He know how to tune these motors.

I'll contact Bob as you have suggested. In the meantime for my own knowledge, I'm kinda confused on how to revert back to "stock" 325i. I found the daten files in the E89 folder... but unclear how to apply those daten files. Would I just follow steps 1 - 4 on the bimmerlabs FAQ page?

Why would you return it back to stock for resale? It's not like you need to retain your Bimmerlabs license. No one will notice and most dealers won't touch these cars on a trade anymore anyways. They'll go straight to a wholesale or auction anyways.

Bimmerlabs has an option to download stock files, just pick yours and download. 2 min flash and your done.

You could also use Winfkp ,comfort mode to reflash. Your stock files are available in the now public Daten folders.

I just hooked my cpu up and tried to run the .bat file from the stock files off bimmerlabs and I seem to get an error. I left out the WinKFP steps listed on bimmerlabs help section as I presumed having done that step in the past when I did the RSA delete/ 330i flash, it isn't required again. Not sure if it was a connection issue but I plan to spend more time on it.

The stock files are available for download right on your project downloads page. The same process is used to flash them.

but IMO, if they can't tune it based on the 330i file, they probably don't really know what they're doing.

Spoke to Stage FP and I've chosen to work with them!

Why run the 330 tune without the 3IM? Are there any gains to be had without it?

My thoughts exactly.

actually, even without the 3stage, there's probably benefits to running the 330i tune - IIRC, the 325i tune only opens the valves to 8mm (instead of the max 10mm), the AFR is 15:1 at WOT, and a bunch of other things that BMW did to intentionally nerf the engine.

Not as big of a difference of course as a 3 stage - especially torque - but remember the 328i makes 230hp, and the 325i 215hp, despite being essentially identical.

The 328i is detuned as well in a similar way to the 325i, just not quite as severe.

:
I swapped in my stock manifold after my disas failed. After experiencing 3im swap for 2 years I didnt feel like spending $700+ to replace it. To my surprise it still has passing power, its still smooth. though not quite as strong as when i had the 3im but it does not feel slow either. I also have AA headers and secondary cat deletes that probably contribute to this.

oh wow that explains why i used to get 28-31mpgs when i my car was stock. now i get 21mpgs but the power increase from the tune to me is worth it!

I remember when i first swapped in my 3im without the flash, there was still a noticeable difference

The 330i tune isn't going to affect your MPG. If it did, it's only because you put your foot in it more. All of the part load, cruise, etc. mapping is not changed between the 325i and 330i. The big changes are only at WOT.
