Help with car purchase 330d 335d lci pre lci

So I know I want to replace my recent written off e81 with a f31 330d or 335d

But unsure which one?

Few examples below... I travel weekly from Liverpool to Wiltshire when we are back to normal

https://www.pavilionmotorcompany.co....02003178533490

Every option extra imaginable but will it retain value more cos of this?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...ize=3.0&page=2

Or play it safe but has little extras and I’d want to upgrade to bigger nav screen

Doesn’t have to be either of those cars just unsure which to go for

All out with all bells and whistles or just what I need and upgrade if needed down the line

I have 15k so anything extra will be borrowed which isn’t a problem for the right car

Entirely dependent on what you want from a car. If it's a long term keeper then get all the options you want, the right engine and test drive what you can to get a good feel for the right car.

If you're going to swap after a few years then you may be able to live without a few things to save on cost and get in an upgrade later on.

Mine was a long term keeper when I got it, so did lots of research on options and my preferences.

Would consider a f36 if there isn’t a f31 that doesn’t fit

I'd take a higher spec car every day of the week. It might cost a bit more but having had most of the extras across my various 3 series at various times I know that they make a huge difference. I just wouldn't buy a car without Memory seats, HUD, adaptive lights, HK stereo. But I would happily fork out more to get Pano roof, adaptive cruise control too.

As a used car they tend to be bit more than a poorly equipped car, but a fraction of what they cost new to add on.

I've had both pre and post facelift F30 cars, and to be honest, I would go with spec, condition, and mileage more than that. The facelift has slightly nicer rear lights, but that's about it.

So something like the 335d attached?

Think when I comes to resale a rarer car with all the extras will hold a lot better?

Couldn’t afford a lci with all the extras think it would push my budget too much

Yes, they looked pretty decent. Having all the nice toys does spoil you though, and it's hard to go back to not having them.

I do think cars that are well equipped are easier to sell, and can get you a bit more, but the older the car gets, them mileage has an increasing bearing on its value.

I tend to keep a car for two years so thinking do I go big or find a middle ground

Shopping for a car is doing me in

Better than selling though!

Why do you sell after 2 years? Maybe if you found something really lovely then you may hold on to it longer?

Though sounds like you do quite a few miles? In which case I'm guessing you sell up as you get towards 100k miles?

If you do a lot of miles and consumption is important then I'd go 330d sdrive over 335d... at least 5mpg difference between the two and possibly more if you're light footed anyway.

Perhaps I would if it was the right car!

I do around 12k a year

Keep being dragged to a f36 35d as well!

Get a 335d. Ive had both (f31 330xd and current f30 335d) and the 335d is a better engine imho. Unless you want rwd in which case it’s 330d only.

For the travelling I wouldn't get a car without adaptive cruise control just makes life on the motorway so much easier, it's a pretty rare option so just by filtering by that on auto trader you'll cut down your options massively.
HK sounds way better than standard.
M Sport Plus brakes make the car look way better too.
Wouldn't get a car without a HUD now either.

Download the brochure for the model year you're looking at and go through the available options so you know exactly what's available otherwise I guarantee you'll buy it then hear of something later you didn't know about and kick yourself

I’d go for the 330d RWD M sport over the 335d unless you really want an xdrive. If you go for the 335d there might be slightly less choice within budget and you’ll then need to spend some extra money sorting the SE ‘big wheel arch gap’ suspension out!

I’d say go with the specced 335d. I spent about 18 months looking for a fully specced f31 335d to replace my old e91 335d. The optional extras really do improve the experience....particularly adaptive suspension, panoramic roof, HUD, pro nav, harmon kardon, m sport brakes, electric seats, heated steering wheel and power folding mirrors. The active cruise is useful too if you can find it. Oh and get a remap, it’ll put a smile on your face!

I completely understand reference all the extras I don’t want to look back and think I should have and be unhappy with my purchase

It’s gonna be a 35d as good a spec I get get

435d or f31 335d

I will get a remap as well hopefully adds a few more mpg aswell as Bhp n torque

Buy a 35d, I test drove both before purchasing, I will tell you that when you drive a 30d for the first time, the power is a pleasant surprise, however, step into the 35d afterwards and you're left questioning when it will stop pulling!

The twin turbo motor, coupled with the ZF8 is sublime, wrap that all up with Xdrive and in a touring body, and it is quite simply one of the best cars around!

As someone pointed out, the standard suspension is a little on the lofty side, but a set of springs will sort that out no sweat!

Very nice mate

That’s a lci? You got any option you wish you had or not need?

Think I want a grey one but wouldn’t say no to the right black or blue one

Yes she's an LCI, the car has great spec, the only thing it doesn't have that I would realistically want is the pan roof, and rear heated seats, the latter purely for vanity!

Have you driven either 30/35?

I found a few tasty Tanzanite blue but didn't fancy the oyster leather, black always had black leather or oyster so ended up going for Mineral grey over Coral red!

Business on the outside, party on the inside!

Not driven either tbh mate

Think I’ll just go straight for the 35d if I can afford it

Not a fan of the white or cream interior myself black happy red happy

Rear heated my kids would be made up

Lci worth the extra you think?

I’d be able to get the above full hit pre or lci with not many extras

I had a povvo spec LCI F31 with pro nav and extended storage

Both the above are essential but one was much better VFM than the other

Pronav - 800 Sovs, useless functionality for navigation and traffic but looks pretty. Utter waste of 800 quid unless someone else has paid but wouldnt get a SH car without it as makes the interior so much nicer. Even if its crap

Extended storage - less than half the cost, 12V for back seat losers, nets on back of front seats, clever boot rail stuff and massively useful cubby under light switch console. Worth it just for the cubby. Seriously

The standard stereo is shite. Sorry for swearing. Its in fact seriously shite. If buying SH do not settle for a car unless it has HK. My new 5er is on its way from Germany. Im a tight bastard but specc'd HK as the sounds in my F31 were just fecking nasty.

Anything over and above that is a nice luxury. Pano roof is nice. Adaptive cruise also nice, had it on a few cars but no way Im paying a four figure sum for it on the 530d. Which I may regret

Cheers
