M2 CS: will it be like M3/M4 CS sitting on dealer lots or not ?
Place your bets -
Will the M2 CS sell at MSRP and be hard to get or will it sit on lots and be heavily discounted like the M3 CS was and like the M4 CS is currently? Things at play: + Limited amount + Rare - colors, bespoke parts, available CCBs + 6MT - Covid19 - Lots of really good M2C available for cheap |

I think there will be enough demand to meet the limited supply if dealers don't slap on a market adjustment that drives the price too far above the msrp. $80k I can see a few hundred people paying. $100k not so much.

As far as i know , in many countries are sold out already even with this situation , and i think it will somehow holds its value especially if its the best first gen M2 money can buy. It will be somehow be seen in the future as the Sport Evo of the M2s , since next generations will also have Special/Limited Edition cars. I think the MT is a big positive to all this , and it will help the car even if its a DCT , to holds its value a bit better than the M4CS. Only time will tell ofc , dont buy any car for investment , we live once and we have to drive as much as we can !

Whatever the M2CS' tag price is in your country, 40% more than the M2C MSRP isn't really Porsche money unless you're looking at entry level trim 718. 911 base mildly equipped is normally twice the m2c money.
Market adjustment if any would be irrelevant and only add to the argument that it won't sit on lots for long.

It's a hard bet to place on the 2CS. No doubt it is a special car as is the 3CS. So were the E30M and the 36LTW and they sat on lots. The 1M seems to be the only car that remained under supply during its launch. |

The M2 CS is a great car, no doubt about that - The Über M2, the #1 in the F87 pecking order. But - at least in Europe - as reflected by low demand, it's overpriced - not worth its salt. And its thunder got stolen by the M2 Competition: better value for money, taken into account discounts up to 20%. For the record, as regards MSRP prices: M2 CS = M2 Competition + 218i. If money is no issue, get an M2 CS as investment in driving fun. As a financial investment it will get you a poor return, as most cars. And about halo cars from the past increasing in value or holding well value: wake up in the 2020-2030 decade: emission taxes on the rise, leasing high performance ICE cars getting fiscally discouraged, cities and towns gradually restricting high performance ICE cars, exhaust sounds further muzzled in Europe and COVID-19 shifting the paradigm of priorities for lots of people. The claim to fame of the F87 M2 CS in future footnotes of automotive history books IMHO ? A BMW M car marketed as "limited edition" which was an incentive or catalyst to go buy an F87 M2 Competition or to pick up an original F87 M2, and spend the 50% change on mods, fuel and track days fun.

I would like to see a review of the recent LW M2comp driven as a DD over the course of a month. Is the suspension livable on a daily basis, or is to too much of a compromise. Suspension is a personal preference so some find a firm ride more livable than others. I'm getting soft as I age and don't like being jostled quite so much. I think people look like goofballs when you see them getting thrown around in the cabin over mild street imperfections. |

From what i understand the only thing the cs will have over the m2c is cf hood, cf roof and adaptive suspension
cs lip and some cf bits like mirror caps and diffuser can be upgraded on the m2c easily But if the CS is track focused car, then isn't adaptive suspension more of a hindrance than the m perf coilover suspension would be? Should the the cs have ideally come with mp suspension than the adaptive? |

I have a few cool cars but looking forward to getting back into a manual BMW M car. I'll be a buyer at MSRP & if it doesn't work out I will find series 1-M

They may make even less of them because of covid for whatever that's worth. Then again if you want similar specs you could just buy plain jane m4 or tune a m2c.

For the record: about the M2 and M2C suspension: see this post. Listen also to what Henry Catchpole says from 05:12 to 05:49 in his M2C review:

For everyone saying it's sold out already. That's almost always the case with this type of cut, doesn't always mean there is a customer with money at the end of the deals till waiting. If someone backs out the dealers keep the allocations or sometimes have ordered them from the start.
In the U.K. it's the dealers who are BMW U.K. customers this just by way of allocation to dealers they're sold out. For some time I've said it will go the same way as the M3/4CS but I actually think it will be a little less here in the U.K., mainly because there aren't many to sell.
