BMW X4 M40d - 21 Inch 718m Wheels

Hi all,

I've put a deposit down on a 2019 Black Sapphire X4 M40d - The car has the M Sport + Pack so it came with the Ferric Grey 718M wheels. I was wondering if anyone has customised those wheels? What I had in mind was keeping the silver silver however painting the ferric grey parts in a gloss black for that precise diamond cut look. Has anyone had this done and if so would it be possible to a photo to be posted!

Thanks!

Congrats, great choice of car!

The grey bits are actually cerium grey to match the mirrors and grilles etc.

The problem with diamond cutting wheels is that the lacquer goes directly onto bare metal, and they just don't last long before the lacquer corrosion starts. I'd advise leaving them alone or getting the whole wheel powder coated black.

That's it Cerium Grey! and I'm quite excited. I mean for a 19 year old I certainly would stand out ahaha! But yeah I was just wondering whether anyone has done this before. I work for Land Rover and we do every now and then actually do that for the 'plain' alloy wheels and they look incredible however that has made me skeptical and I'm unsure as to whether powder coating them black would look alright as the car doesn't have the extended 'shadow line' trim so in my eyes it would look a bit off! But then again each to their own really...

There’s some members on the X3 Facebook group that have done the exact thing that you mention to their 718M wheels.

They look fantastic.

Man they should have come like that from the factory! I would have specced them, despite the horrendous price and choice of tyres for them!

Mine came in black and diamond cut, though they were all like that.

They are standard fit on the M40 LCI in the UK market.

IMO they look great with red calipers, but would recommend a good ceramic coating to keep them looking good.
