Lower prices for Canadians!!
Pricing options just came into Calgary BMW so I just signed the papers.
I spent an afternoon with the dealer a while ago working on an estimate for the 2009's based on what we have for the 2008's and sort of guessing what BMW Canada might put out for prices. We had the 2008 pricing and features sheet next to the 2009 features and tried to figure out what the prices are by adding/deleting items. Today I got my official quote and looks like we were short on a lot of things. Estimate based on 2008: 335i xDrive Sedan: $52,500 Sport package: $2000 Nav package: $2900 Executive package: $3950 6 Spd Auto Steptronic: $1700 USB Audio Integration: $350 Actual 2009 prices: 335i xDrive Sedan: $51,500 Sport package: $1800 Nav package: $2000 Executive package: $2200 6 Spd Auto Steptronic: $1700 USB Audio Integration: $425 Difference: $-3775 ...and this doesn't include the fact that in 2008's you had to add on things like comfort access. Though I wish they gave us more of a discount on the MSRP, it looks like BMW Canada is trying to make up to us for being shafted by the strong Canadian dollar by giving us the breaks on the options instead. Also, I suppose the new iDrive, new design, and standard leather on the 335 would make up for it. It's about time Canadians finally got a break! Last time we checked, there were no Montego Blue 335xi's with Navi being made so no October delivery but there's a chance now I might get it a lot sooner! *crossing my fingers for an earlier delivery* |

Congrats, hopefully i can get my 335 coupe in a few months, still waiting for the hammer to hit the American economy, and for the car manufacturers to beg consumers to purchase their overpriced toys.

It seems that way, I've been waiting a while to pull the trigger on a 335i coupe, but unfortunately the prices are the same from 08 to 09 when you figure in the 4k rebate they were giving on 08's. Since we don't need the letter of admissabilty from bmw canada or the recall letter from bmw canada(thus no cluster changes), its most likely off to the states.

Is it worth the effort and time and hassle to go to the states? The Canadian dollar is down, US prices are up, Canadian prices are down. Also no free maintenance in Canada for US cars.
When/if you want to resell your US car in Canada you are going to have a big hit to the resale value in Canada. Whenever I see an ad for a US car for sale in Canada I automatically assume there should be at least a 10% price adjustment compared to a local Canadian car. |
