M Sport bumpers with chrome window trim??

My neighbor just bought a 330i and one thing I thought was strange was that he has the M Sport front and rear bumpers, but then has the chrome/satin trim around the doors/windows.

I tried to build this on the BMW Canada site and it only allows you to order the M Sport package which includes the shadowline black window trim.

I can't seem to find any pictures of this combo online anywhere either. Is it available in the US?

No particular reason that I care, just out of curiosity sake...

I spot weird stuff like that too and wonder. Is it a CPO? Maybe the previous owner had the bumper covers changed to M Sport. People do weird stuff like that. I once spotted an F30 330 or 328 that had the M sport bumpers, 18" wheels, and M3 badges. (I've got pics of this "beast".)

It's definitely brand new. BMW is doing contactless delivery here, so I watched them take a lot of the new wrapping out of the interior when they dropped it off. Very odd!

Factory error? Didn't someone here got their car delivered with mismatched interior trim?

Yes he did and in fact I just realized today that my roof rail piece (channel or whatever you call it) is the wrong white on the driver's side! Lol The pictures make it seem worse than it is but obviously some quality controls going on Haha. Here is the driver's side vs the passenger side...my car is mineral white but they obviously used an alpine white roof rail. It's going in next week to have the part replaced.

I know but this isn't Europe. I didn't think it was possible in either Canada or the US (based on the online configuration thing). It even has the black 791m rims.

Here is this anomaly.

I would but they are VERY isolated at the moment. Never see them but I will ask when I get a chance. They are not "car people" so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know why and just selected it off the dealer lot.

Satin aluminum trim is available with the ZMP M sport package.
It's just high gloss shadow line does add more character to the BMW's, hence the lack of this combo in satin aluminum.

Cool thanks! I don't understand why they don't make these kind to things clear when you build online? If you try to configure online it the M sport package makes it look like the shadow line trim is the only option.

Correct, I had a go at the online configurator.

Seems you can't choose the Satin aluminum once M sport is added.
Re-checking off the satin aluminum in the Standard equipment would take out the M sport package.

Your neighbor probably purchased a vehicle that somebody manually configured on the Retailers end.

I was going to add the very same to my post.

Never knew about that option at all though.

That was my point as well, that I didn't even know it was something you could manually configure. I wish the online build tools showed all the options that were allowed.

Yes it is odd not to include all options that are available

Ok,

Did a little more digging,
Seems like you can no longer get this trim combo as of August 1st,2019,
Hence it's not on the online configurator.

If you add ZMP, you can't have 3MB anymore

Interesting. I'm surprised that he just took delivery (hadn't even had all the protective wrap taken off inside or out) of a vehicle that's that old.

UPDATE: This lockdown crap has me really bored (obviously) so I finally saw the neighbor and talked to him. Turns out it was a factory quality control issue. It should have been the black trim but they screwed up. Upon delivery, the dealership offered him $3k off the price of the car for the error, OR they would have the new trim ordered. He took them up on the $3k. It's a lease and he's not a car nut so it didn't bother him.

Not a bad resolution if the guy wasn’t concerned = result!

Definitely not a bad deal! I still would have wanted the trim pieces black (how they were ordered) but I understand why he doesn't care especially since he's getting $3k off his negotiated sale price.
