Transmission fluid change

Hello, my car a B58 x3 2018 with mhd stage 2 feels a little rough on shifts since the last 1000miles.
I got 40000 miles on the odo. I want to do a transmission fluid flush.
Would liqui molly atf 1800 be a good fluid? Also do I need to change the pan? It's a lease and I'm returning the car in 1 year. Just want to have peace in mind.

I wouldn't waste your money. Its not your car and it should easy do 60k-80k on the original transmission fluid.

Update the app and flash your car again if you haven't done that in a while. There are driveability improvements from MHD.

Flash back to stock and see if trans is still not shifting smooth. Honestly if it's a lease I wouldn't do anything. Especially going so far as to replace the pan and drain and fill. I would recommend only OEM fluid though.

And if it blows, that's what a warranty is for.

I do not have anymore drivetrain warranty. Also I will have around 100000km on the car at the end of my lease. The last 20000km will have no warranty.

Suggest you consult a local Independent BMW/Euro car mechanic. Make certain a fluid change is the proper remedy.

Regards fluid:
A system FLUSH is generally NOT recommended, a drain and fill is the normal service for transmission in these cars. The pan has an integral filter element, and it should be changed when fluid is renewed. I'd suggest you stick with OEM fluid (believe that is ZF Lifeguard) if you in fact get this service done.

I believe that when one drains not all fluid is removed from system, some remains in torque converter- so makes sense to then fill with OEM (ZF Lifeguard) fluid.

Using BMW/OEM fluid to refill insures all fluid in the transmission is of same type/characteristics; this to me seems more desirable than mixing two different fluids that likely vary slightly in chemical composition.

Do you not get three years warranty on a new BMW in Canada then? That would cover you until you plan to get rid of the vehicle next year.

I don't see the point in wasting money on extra servicing on a lease car. Its basically rented and if it breaks then surely its the lease companies responsibility to provide a another car or repair the car you are leasing from them?
