Key FOB not detected in vehicle after coding

Has anyone heard of an issue where after coding with BimmerCode the car will intermittently not detect the key FOB when starting the car and then request you to place the fob next to the steering column to start.

It's happened to me twice now on my 2019 G20 330xi. The first time I didn't make any connection to BimmerCode so I replaced the battery in the key FOB and then a couple days later when it happened again I took it to the dealer. They claimed they fixed it but then it happened again a few days later.

So then I switched to my spare key FOB and it worked great for a few months. Then yesterday I was coding with BimmerCode again and all went fine but now this morning my car won't detect the key FOB again.

I was curious if this is a known issue or perhaps something I'm doing wrong.

It happened twice and there were no problems either time. The coding worked. I have a message into BimmerCode and if he recommends restoring the back up then I will. I'm just curious if it has happened to anyone else... Thanks

Nope. I’ve done a lot of coding and it has never happened to me. Do you remember what modules you were coding? Or does it happen all the time?

This is happening to me. 2020 330i xdrive with software version 2019/7. I just coded for sport+ and Remember last ASS setting.

I'm not sure if there's an specific pattern to it, but I did the coding last night and it's happened twice today.

Anyone else having this issue? How did you resolve it OP? I swapped keys too and it happened with the spare.

I haven't had a problem again since I did the following…

After starting the car using the steering column procedure:

Turn off the car
While sitting in the car use the fob to lock doors
Then use the fob to unlock doors

I found the above procedure as a way to register a new key fob so I tried it with this issue and so far it's working. May or may not be coincidence.

Thanks I’ll try this next time. It hasn’t happened during the last few start ups.

I know this is an old thread.

Same issue here with my F30 after using Bimercode a few times...still investigating when/what happened. My main remote would only start the car when placed against the steering column, none of the remote's keys work. Had to use my spare remote. Tried battery, re-sync, etc.

What makes it more difficult is that I also did a CIC to NBT retrofit and a 6.5" to OEM F15 10.25" display upgrade.

Will try to revert the codes, but not sure if that would solve this. Anyone solved their issue?
