I kind of did a thing

So with some free time during this quarantine I decided to try to paint the center of the stock m340 grill.

I used a q-tip to apply plasti-dip to each of the "teeth" in the center of the grill and left the surrounds to be cerium gray. The plasti dip was so that I can go back to stock in case I didn't like the look. I also think this look is actually perfect if you don't wanna go completely black. For me personally if I blacked it out completely then I'd have to black out the air curtains in the bumper then the mirror caps and so on.

Excuse the filthy car...

That looks great - I am considering this myself now, thanks for sharing.

Thanks!

Somewhat. It took me maybe about 30 minutes to do 2 coats. I think I'll go back and add another coat this weekend after I wash the car

Looks good! Can we get some closer up photos? I have black plasti-dip and would consider doing this.

Did you spray into a bucket/cup first? (That's my guess)

I see you did two layers and are considering a third... Would love to see a follow up!

Sorry for asking for homework!

I didn't get a chance to wash the car this weekend. Will try for sometime this week.

Yep, I sprayed some plasti dip in a cup then dabbed a cotton swab in it and applied.

I'll take the close ups after the next coat

How has this held up since you did this two months ago?

It's held up okay. I still haven't had time to go back and touch up some spots though.

Not a big fan of chrome in general, but that looks nice and subtle. If I were to stick with any element of chrome on the grill, that would probably be that way I'd go.
