Turn headlights fully off while car running

Has anyone figured out a way to code the lights to he able to be fully turned off when engine is running?
Drives me insane to have exterior lights on if I'm just sitting parked somewhere with engine running for heater, was able to do to this with DRL option in my last 5 cars.

Hi,

You can code the MGU menu to have the option to tick the DRL’s to off. Unfortunately this will only work during daytime as the function “auto” on your light switch panel will remain on and as soon as it gets darker your drl’s + low beams will switch on.

I HATE HATE HATE Auto headlights. They are designed for idiots who go around without their headlights on.

I would love to be able to code them off.

Are you serious??? Lol turn your headlight off by pressing the off switch and then go to i drive, car, settings, exterior lighting, daylight off... that simple 0 coding needed I do it all the time

Edit: sorry was using the app and didn't see you are in another country, your set up might be different and you might not have that option

When my car is running at night the headlights are on. I can do parking light but can't go full blackout . But I even have the daytime running light option to turn them coded, and at night the lights still come on.

When I press off the car says lights not off while engine running or some dumb bs.

That must be a Canadian thing (You guys have slightly different DRL laws up there). In the US spec car, when you push the off button, lights will completely go off.

Did you try switching the auto light function in bimmercode? Our is set to zero, I bet you anything, yours is set to 1.

Its under BDC module and look for auto-headlights. (you don't need to go to expert mode)

It gives you an option:

Auto headlights in position 0
Auto headlights in position 1

US cars are set to 0, see what yours is set to.

Back in the day, I imported a Volvo from Canada and had this very same problem. Couldn't turn off the headlights. That one just required a US spec headlight switch (before coding days )

Weird, doesn't change anything for me.
Still says lights not off while engine running or some bs.
Must be something different in expert.

Interesting. We get a similar message if you try to turn the auto headlights off while they are on and driving.

"Lights off not available while driving" or something like that.

I hope we can find a way to code them so it remembers the last setting. Off means OFF

It's mandatory in Canada (or will be), that as long as the engine is running and it's dark, the headlights must remain lit.

I'm not sure it can be removed via coding, it might be hardware specific but don't quote me..

Yea I know our stupid laws.

We never had the option in idrive to turn them off either always needed coding.

It's because we have so many damn morons driving dark thinking they have lights on cause the drl does faint heads and cluster, but no tails. Ruin it for us people with a brain

It sucks but laws exist so stupid people don't hurt themselves or others..

I encounter at least one neanderthal, per week, on the expressway, late at night, with no lights on but I digress..

If it's that serious to you, maybe one of the coding vendors here might be able to possible code it remotely for you. Won't hurt to ask..

Try Steve @ codemybimmer

You can turn off the headlight while engine is running by coding

OFF_IN_PWF_FAHREN_ERLAUBT : 01 (ja)

this is in 17BD (BDC), also you need daylight coding as well.
