Resources to learn about my new X5
I received my new X5 this week after ordering it about a month ago. We opted for delivery due to our stay at home situation so we missed out on any demonstrations, etc. Any suggestions for sites or videos to learn how everything works? Thanks!

Congrats! Lucky you. For starters, you can go to YouTube and do a search on "BMW X5 G05 Genius", or some variant of that search. it'll show you how to do some of the more popular features.
Cheers, -Tony

Just download the BMW drivers guide app. It includes short instructional videos. Quick start tips. And the digital manual adapted to your specific chosen options. |

In addition to the first two suggestions, sit in your car for an hour or so and go through all the menus. You can’t break anything! Set up your drivers profile first and then pair your phone.

If you can't get the code to pair your phone with the car, call connected drive helpdesk. They can do it online. |

The onboard user's manual has some stuff, and it's not a bad idea to download a .PDF of your manual (from MYGARAGE on BMW website with your VIN) as then, you can read, search, and study it instead of the hard copy. The app with the user's manual is helpful, as is just sitting in the vehicle. It's a good idea to be sitting in the vehicle while reading something, as then, you can locate and touch the switch, or activate that function. When watching a video online, be careful, as they may be for an older model, or firmware update, so may not match yours exactly in everything.

Go to your dealer's website and pick a VIN off of one of his vehicles, then use that to download a copy of the manual...you can't get your copy until your vehicle is actually finished off of the production line. I haven't done a file compare, but if you choose a 45e from your dealer's stock, the book will likely be identical to the one you can download using your VIN later, once they make it available to you.

The app shows the info of the specific options that the car with the entered VIN has. So if you use another one from the dealer chose one with the same options you have.
If you have the VIN of your new car you should be able the activate the drivers guide app. Does the VIN work with the connected drive app / site? |

The .pdf of the user's manual is pretty generic, covering the options available for that model, so if you get one that's the same model, don't worry about the options...the app version is a bit more specific to your vehicle, but the .pdf isn't...download it and read through as it will likely be the same thing as the printed copy you'd get with the vehicle. They don't print a hard copy unique to each VIN. The hard copy, or .pdf of it, is somewhere around 500-pages, so you'll have some reading to do!

The printed owners manual for my 2021 X5M is only 401 pages.
The printed owners manual for the iDrive 7.0 Navigation, Entertainment and communication manual is only 100 pages. |

The 45e's is 436, but it seems like it's more...each model is slightly different. There's still a lot of stuff to review, and everyone should check theirs out periodically so they can get the most out of all of the tech in the thing.
