CPO '18 G01 X3 - How did I do price wise?
Hey guys,
Quick disclaimer im not looking for approval with this post, Im just looking to see other BMW owners thoughts on the price I negotiated today. I have bought and sold many cars in my day but this is the first CPO from BMW direct and I heard sometimes they are less inclined to make a deal. Little background, I just paid off my F30 and my wife has been driving a '12 Passat.. Since having two kids, Acquiring a dog etc we have been in the market for an SUV.... She loved her Passat and was dead set on getting a new 2019/2020 Tiguan SEL Premium R-Line ( the top of the line tiguan https://i.redd.it/g1jyamvce2p21.jpg ). Beautiful car when its optioned with LED Headlights and digital cockpit etc ( think Audi Digital cluster ), Unfortunately those retail for around 40k and with deals your lucky to get them for under 38k and most used ones are the cheap basic ones. At that price-point its expensive even with leather and all the options you can still see a ton of hard plastics that look like the base model car thats just optioned up also the newer models Tiguans are only 180hp and lost the DSG trans ( not buying for performance ) but they have been said to be sluggish. So we started looking at CPO X3's which can be had for a tad lower than a new Tiguan but with a much nicer interior and low miles. From what I read the B48 engine is pretty good and we all know the ZF Transmission is world class + my F30 BMW has been more reliable then our VW. After a month of internet pricing/shopping/researching I found a CPO 2018 x3 in Phytonic Blue Metallic w/ Cognac leather + options I wanted, The asking price was 34k with what they call an "internet price of 32,900". The car is a 2018 xdrive30i w/38k miles and the balance of the 4 year / 50,000 bumper to bumper warranty which expires 4/28/22 and an additional year with UNLIMITED MILES of engine, transmission, and powertrain till 04/28/2023. It also comes with a second set of OEM rims with winter tires. I got the price down to $32,000 out the door without any other fees and im bringing my own financing through the local credit union at 1.9%. Ive been buying and selling for years but its always good to hear from others if they think this is a good or decent deal or did I get hosed. TLDR

I was in the market for an SUV and was intrigued by the VW Touareg which they stopped importing into the US in 2017. VW was selling 2016 diesels that they refurbished after the emission scandal as certified with a full 4 year warranty. They wanted $45K for nicely optioned ones. Diesel isn't cheaper to operate - just might last longer and has more torque. I ended up with a 2018 X3M40i with 13K miles, nicely optioned for about the same price as a 2016 VW diesel. Mine isn't certified but I have 26 months of warranty left. All that said, I think the CPO price with extra set of wheels was good. Hope you enjoy the car.

Congrats, your X3 looks really nice and I think $32k for a CPO w/ an extra set of wheels is probably pretty good. The miles may seem a bit high, but that's what the CPO is for, right?
I really love BMW blue options and would have ordered their navy (forget the name, Imperial Blue maybe?) but it wasn't available. I ended up w/ Dark Graphite Metallic/cognac and it all worked out as my wife ended up w/ a Phytonic Blue/oyster about six months later. We both love our cars. Now if we could just get out of the house and drive them...
